are the wait times on Touring Plan accurate? Please let me know your observations.

We are going there next week. Thanks.

I would never put my faith into a single Wait Time App. Most rely on user provided data and are only as good as the last time someone in the parks entered information. When a lot of people are entering times, they tend to do okay. When it's a slow day, the wait times can be really off.

Regarding Touring Plans specifically, they say they use a statistical method for predicating wait times that produces wonky results to me. For example, they predict that at 5:00 pm on July 4th (as in the major holiday), the wait time for both Indy Jones and Space will be about 45 minutes. RSR will be about 75 minutes. I kind of think these are all under-predictions.

When I use the wait time apps, I tend to look more than one (e.g., Disneyland Wait Times, MouseWaits, etc.) to see if there is any consensus.

I agree that TP has been hit or miss in their wait times. I also use Mousewait and then check both apps to get a better idea of accurate wait times.

I agree. I also reference both apps and will even call Otto before heading clear across the park or park hopping. On the home page of DLR lines (touringplan's' app) I like to view Recent Wait Times. This really helps me to make a decision.

I used touring plans to help pick the days of our trip. it helped me feel good about my decision and was reasonably accurate, meaning it set my expectations well.

Once there we used it lightly, everything was so close that we only consulted if we were thinking of hopping parks.

Finally, you can track your time in line and post it immediately, that was a fun game to play.

I was at DL last year for the 4th and RSR was about 75 minutes at around that time. I can't confirm the other times as we spent the whole day at CA and it was really manageable. It is nowhere as bad as WDW on the 4th.

What does it mean "call Otto"? Is there a # to call to check wait times?
Hope I don't sound like a total Doof...

I've never called, but it is mentioned on the TImes Guides. You can call get info (like wait times):

That's good to know. I know whenever I've glanced at their times, they've always seemed rather low. I was glancing back at the wait times for when I was there over Memorial Day and I would say they're within about 15-30 minutes of what I saw for the bigger rides.

I really never saw it more than 15 minutes under the posted time.

Isn't Touring Plans the one that uses projected wait times (what they see as actual) instead of posted wait times? I believe the idea is that if a wait time is posted as 30, for instance, it may only really be 22, so that's what they post. Which may account for their shorter wait times.

Yes there is as PP discussed, and no you are not a total Doof. Not at all :) it is easy and quick to use Otto, but there does seem to be a bit of a delay/lag in updating wait times. I think this is only to be expected.

Its a mix of predictive planning, people sharing posted wait times and timing the lines in real time and sharing. It helped us plan, though I wouldn't follow the data blindly.

Most local Disneyland guests use Mousewait.

I find to use it more to see if an attraction has gone down or is back up.
Attractions that come back up usually have a shorter line for the first 5-10 minutes or so.
