Touring Plan Strategy

I have used TP before in DL and it was so helpful! I bought another subscription for our May WDW trip. But, what is the best strategy - research and come up with an order of attractions and have TP evaluate and move things around according to wait times? Or, just plug in what I want to do ride wise, hit optimize and follow their plan? Also, after the plan is set do you guys optimize while in the park and change your plan accordingly? I feel like there is just a little discrepancy on reco'd order of attractions on various sites (DFB, All Ears, disneytouristblog, etc) - not too different though! Just trying to figure out the best strategy to mitigate wait times.... going 2nd week of May for perspective.

My preference is to build a list of attractions, snack breaks, and meals we want to do (and a break for shopping if it's a must do), then have TP optimize the plan. We don't follow that plan *exactly*, but it is a good guide, a framework (which helps with the decision overload that Disney can create). Keep in mind that you can tell TP to optimize for minimal wait times or optimize for less walking (so you won't track back and forth across Epcot all day until your feet fall off). Have fun!

I’ve been using TP to put in the things we want to do and then see what time we’ll finish them. If it’s early afternoon, we can take our time. If it’s late afternoon, we’ll have to hoof it or reduce our list. While we usually follow the plan in determining whether to go left or right in the park, I’ll use their lines app to decide if we’ll bypass a ride and maybe try to do it later.

I'd also suggest re-optimizing your plan once you've completed your first attraction of the day. For a park like the MK, it's unlikely that every single attraction is going to open exactly on time and run perfectly. By the time you're off your first ride, TP should have detected anything weird like that, and can re-route you around any issues.
