Touring Plan for Knott's?

We will be visiting Knott's on Monday, July 20. (Arriving when the park opens.) We have 4 kids, all of which like roller-coasters and are tall enough for all that Knott's has to offer. Can someone please help with the order we should plan on riding everything to avoid long lines as much as possible?

I'd buy tickets on the web site and print them to avoid ticket booth lines. Try to arrive before opening time - I'd recommend a half hour. If you are forced to park across Harbor Blvd., you'll have a long walk to Knott's - there is no tram. I can't say it always happens, but I expect that the gates will be opened before the official opening time.



I'd start with Pony Express. If you are let in early, go "far and left" to the rope drop area in Ghost Town near the Gold Trails Hotel. You may be able to make the first P.E. train. I'd next go "back" to Ghost Rider and ride it if available. It has opened late, so if passengers aren't loading, I'd proceed to Silver Bullet. Then, try again if G.R. wasn't open before. A couple of other roller coasters are Sierra Sidewinder and Excelerator. I'd ride them in that order, since that reduces backtracking.

Thank you Perlster! That gets me started w/some idea of where to go. It is so hard not to have a "game plan" when I am such a detailed planner for WDW and DL. I really appreciate your help!

I'm going to stress what Perlster said and will also recommend GET THERE EARLY. Especially over the summer. This is why:

Knott's sells half day passes with admission that starts after 4pm. Last time I went to Knotts over the summer, the park became a madhouse after 4pm (huge lines, unsupervised kids, unruly teens, large groups of rude adults drinking alcohol etc). We left after 6 pm, even though the park was open until midnight that day. If I go over the summer now, my goal is to be in and out of the park by 4pm (hitting up the fried chicken restaurant on my way out, getting food to go if there is a long wait for dinner, and maybe also grabbing a funnel cake from the ice cream shop).

Thanks Spacepest! We were hoping to leave mid-late afternoon and finish the night at Disneyland. Your response helps solidify that decision! Now that are kids are getting older, we wanted to include somewhere with more thrill rides. I already wanted to try the chicken and we will add a funnel cake to the list. We will get there early and hope for best!

DW & I are going to Disneyland, with no interest in Knotts. But I would like to go to their restaurant one evening and try the world famous chicken dinner. I remember having it as a kid in the '60s, and that it was oh so good.

Is there a way to get to the restaurant in the evening without parking a mile away and walking? Because if there isn't, it's probably not worth the trouble.

Oh, and where (relative to the park) is the restaurant?

DW & I are going to Disneyland, with no interest in Knotts. But I would like to go to their restaurant one evening and try the world famous chicken dinner. I remember having it as a kid in the '60s, and that it was oh so good.

Is there a way to get to the restaurant in the evening without parking a mile away and walking? Because if there isn't, it's probably not worth the trouble.

Oh, and where (relative to the park) is the restaurant?

There's parking infront of the restaurant & shops, but it's usually hard to get one of those spots. Other than that, I'm not sure how far the parking will be.
And Mrs. Knott's is on the left side of the entrance of the park. It's right across the Peanuts store (outside of the park) w/ a giant Snoopy on it. You can't miss it! And you might want to get there early bc the lines get SUPER long.
But if you get frustrated w/ parking or lines, right down the street & across from Medieval Times is a restaurant called PoFolks that has really good fried chicken & other dishes.

We were just there last Wednesday (August 5) and we arrived around 4-4:30. We found that the lines really weren't too bad at all. We managed to do all the big coasters before the park closed, and even stopped for a while to have dinner at the chicken place, AND we saw a show. Because there were four of us, we got tickets for $19.99 each. The clientele is definitely different than Disneyland, but we didn't feel at all rushed or tired of lines.

When we were there last week, there were plenty of spots in the lot across from the restaurant. The restaurant, however, had a HUGE line at suppertime. We ended up getting "to go" food next door and eating it at a picnic table outside. It's free parking for the first two hours, too!
