Touring Plan Crowd Calendar

Looking at the crowd calendar as I plan my trip for 2/23/19 to 3/2/19, which is the same week we went this year. Why is the crowd calendar showing that it will be busier than the prior week which is President’s Day/February vacation week? It certainly wasn’t last year. My parents were there both weeks and could compare. Plus it just doesn’t seem to make sense. Any thoughts?

I believe it is due to the Princess Half Marathon being that weekend

Also understand that the calendars continue to change as you get closer to the dates.
The calendar for our dates have gone from 8's to 4's to 6's and all around.
At best its a guess with some data behind it, that I use to get an idea of how crowded it may be.

The half marathon weekend will be busy but then it dropped right off last year Monday/Tuesday. The week prior there are actually some 1’s?! Seems very counter-intuitive for a vacation week!

We had a wonderful week this past year and the crowds were very manageable. My sisters and their families visited my parents the week prior and did not have a good experience..had the expected crowds and lines, but also lots of rides were down which was not good.

I have the same question as OP. I’ve been comparing TP and Undercover Tourist crowd calendars and they aren’t consistent. For example, on 2/25 TP shows HS as a level 10/10, while Undercover Tourist has it as a recommended park. I don’t know who to believe. This is our first trip in a few years and I am hoping to see some of the newer stuff. I’ve always had good luck comparing the various crowd calendars but these differences make me question that strategy.

I had this same question-- I wanted 2/25 to be our HS day and was confused why it was a 10 compared to last year's numbers. I emailed TP customer service last month about it and they were also puzzled. The guy told me to expect the numbers to be tweaked in the next update (October). I just got an email from TP today with the update-- 2/25 at HS is now a 6. Hopefully it will drop even further, but with the Princess Half the day before, not counting on it. Just glad it's no longer a 10!

Hmmm. I don't know what's going on. I just looked at the blog post that was included with the email, and it showed they had some technical difficulties with the update. Hope they get it worked out soon!

I received three different emails last night for our two upcoming trips. The numbers were all over the board. The first email had the numbers going a lot higher. The second and third were more in line with what they had been. Hope yours work out.

I agree. Doesn't surprise me that different website have conflicting data since they each use their own formulas. None of those 3rd party sites have access to the Disney reservation system, so at best they are guesses/formulas using historical data or whatever other inputs they have, probably factoring in Holidays and major events. I would only use them as a general guide and not depend on their accuracy.

Even Disney doesn't know how many local people with annual passes or those staying at non-Disney hotels will decide to go to a specific theme park on any given day, there isn't ANY database with that information. Estimates of ride wait times within a certain day are likely less accurate. Just because a website posts such information doesn't mean it is reliable or accurate.
