Touring outside the parks

The hubby and I are planning a 6 (or maybe 7) night stay at the CSR in early October. I was hoping to be able to spend a day at the Kennedy Space Centre but we won't be driving. Does anyone know what our options are for planning a day trip like this? That gator park looks kind of fun too Thanks!

the only thing I could suggest would be renting a car. Anything else would cost to much.

My parents did this a few years ago. They were staying onsite and did not rent a car and my dad did not want to drive. I believe they called Mears and they were able to get picked up at their onsite hotel (POR) and brought to the Kennedy Space Center. Mears had a schedule where they stopped off at the different hotels in the morning and then brought everyone home later in the day. I do not remember what they paid but this was about 3 years ago.

Give Mears a call and check it out. As far as Gatorland, I guess you can ask them about that also.

Although I have never used Mears...I read in another post that they no longer go directly to each onsite resort.

And the person on the phone said they still offer this service. Their phone number is 407-423-5566. It is shuttle service and it costs $31.00 per person round trip. They will pick you up at your hotel (I gave them POR as an example and they said they pick up there at 8:15 am) and then bring you back later that night. Depending on how many people are going it might cost less to rent a car for the day but my parents did not want to do that. My dad does not like to drive somewhere where he does not know the area so this worked out great for them.

Sorry, I just read where you wouldn't be driving...didn't know you meant you don't drive, I just assumed you were flying out and going to use ME. Glad Mears will work out for you on a day trip out!

Yeah, I was a bit vague in that first post... hate explaining to people that no, we don't drive, never have etc. I was just wondering what other options there were for us to get around outside the parks.

We booked a Gator Tour to Kennedy through the Undercover Tourist site. It included admission. There were a lot of options for different tours on the UT site so it might be worth a look.
