We attended the
DVC members tour at BLT last week, and I think they have them every day at 1:00. We stopped by the DVC desk at AKL, our home resort, and asked them to call and make our appointment. The lady called the DVC main office, I guess, they verified that we are members, and they put our name on the list. I had read that they admitted only a limited number of guests, but the lounge was packed. We were several minutes early, but when they took us up to the lounge every seat already was taken and most people had finished eating. They did have an abundance of food....finger sandwiches, cheese cake on a stick, iced tea, soft drinks, coffee, etc. It was very nice except for the huge crowd of people. We were shown the 2 bedroom unit and a studio and then taken outside to see the pool, which was very small. Each family got a tote bag, lanyards for everyone in the family, a DVC binder with a legal pad, and a ticket for 3 special fast passes for each member there. Children also got coloring books. There were some door prizes and small DVC things given for answering quiz questions. DH and I were very unimpressed with the units. DH said he felt like he was in a hospital when we walked down the halls, and I believe the furniture is made of particle board and from K-Mart. The units seemed very small to us, and I still don't understand why the bathroom sink is in the kitchen area of the studio units. We were annoyed by the attitude of the DVC guides. Both of them kept making comments about needing to keep out hooligans, and one guide very rudely questioned a DVC member as to how he could afford a membership. I'm glad we took the tour and were able to see BLT, the view is fantastic, but we don't plan to stay there. I realize how convenient it is for families with young children to be at the monorail, have a view of MK, be able to watch the fireworks from the lounge, etc., but we would rather be at AKL watching the animals.
