Tour Guide Mike

Got on yesterday just long enough to pay and then that was it!

Annoying as I have the time TODAY, NOW to get started.

Regardless if you love or hate TGM, for a service that requires a paid subcription it's pretty poor customer service on TGMs part. An email at least could have been sent either giving those a chance in advance to print any information they may need if this was "scheduled" down time. If it wasn't scheduled, the fact being how long it's been down now, an email should have been sent updating the status and the projected time frame it will be up again.

This would be assuming that TGM has the ability to send an email or has access to the customer database to know who to send to. Does anyone know exactly what has happened, for this amount of time, it must be pretty catastophic. I would assume that his site is hosted in a secure data center with power backup, server backup, etc. His mail server may not be the same server as the one hosting his site but if they are in the same rack and the building burnt to the ground, they have no way of doing anything until some sort of backup is loaded somewhere, dns would have to be repointed and that could take days depending on time to live on the server, there are just way too many factors to consider depending on what has taken him down for this long. Unless he's taken your $20 and headed to Mexico.....

I would think that they are frantically trying to fix whatever the situation is and get the site up and not worry about the time it would take to notify everyone that their site is down, which is obvious. Does he have a phone number listed somewhere to give a call to?

where is Lake Goodwin? I have lived in WA all my life and haven't heard of it.
It's about 20 miles North of Everett. Think Arlington/Marysville. Kayak Point State Park.

Me too! I was really planning on spending a long rainy afternoon perusing the raft of information TGM offers :surfweb: Oh well, let it never be said that I can't be flexible.

Curious...

Why do people post that they are subscribing? Why don't they just subscribe? Is it to boost post count or ddo they just want everyone to know they are subscribing? Or is it one of the Dis' best kept secrets - how to subscibe

I'm with you! I'm sure I'll have time to plan this weekend or next week as well. I'm just soooooo bored at work right now that I was hoping his site would be up. Plus I want to make sure my ADRs which I am about to make (or try to as I'm only 6 weeks out) will coincide with our touring as per Mike. These Disney trips are alot of work!!! :lmao:

TGM or any other computer based company would be backing up their data so that the loss of a server should not prevent him access to the database. I do hope that whatever has led to such a lengthy outage of his website hasn't also compromised the information on his servers.

Glad to know I am not the only one. I was starting to think my comany's IT group was onto me. Guess I actually have to do some work now.

Me too! I had two of my co-workers check to make sure it wasn't just my computer! And I called DH and made him check too. Sad how addicted I am.

I was going to begin a thread because I just tried to log on to TGM.

Not too thrilled to see that this all began at 4pm yesterday!!:scared:

I just spoke with TourGuideMiKE and they think they have the server problem identified. If they are right, the site should be back up in a couple of hours. If they're wrong............:flower3:

I just thought the same thing, I have been trying all morning and now after reading this I find out it started yesterday. I hope everything is ok with the site and we can all get back on soon especially the people who are leaving for their trips soon. I have until May :)

Guess I won't be able to get over and use TGM until tomorrow afternoon then, since I have to work soon, and then be at work first thing tomorrow. :sad2:

I bet he does have a way to get online. Since he knows these boards exist, I mean, he is a sponser, he could post here saying what's wrong.

I leave in 11 days.

I planned on spending this afternoon on TGM making final preparations and schedules.

We are in for a HUGE snow storm with freezing rain. News guys are warning about power outages, so today was my day with TGM.

DISAPPOINTED!

I agree.....he should personally acknowledge our posts and offer compensation. S

SandraC,

REFUND

REFUND

All you have to do is ask. Once the site is back up I would ask for that refund, I don't think requesting the refund on the DIS will do you much good. I have heard that he is very prompt with his refunds too. I'm sure you will have no problem getting one. As a matter of fact please start a new thread to tell us about your TourGuideMIKE refund experience. I'm sure it may be helpful to others.

Looks like Mike did give word, though Kenswing, who's one of his forum administrators. :goodvibes As for compensation, TourGuideMiKE has a very easy money-back guarantee- once the site is back up, just hit the contact form, and your subscription $s will be refunded, no questions asked. :)
