I've been reading some rather unpleasant things about large, rude tour groups that are at Disney in the month of July. Are those groups still there? We are going in 8 days and I am concerned about some of the behavior I've been reading about. Any ideas?

Last July, we encountered many tour groups from foreign countries and they had a bad habit of standing FOREVER at the fast pass machines getting tickets for everyone in their party it seemed. They were particulary visible in the Studios park. I don't remember problems with them and these machines at EPCOT or MK. I don't mind them, it just seemed rude to stand at the machines for so long (I'm talking at least 15 minutes or him inserting gobs of tickets!)
Hope you avoid them! :)

Ah yes. Brazillian tour groups. They are legendary and feared by most CMs.

The other day I had to work around them at the MK. The next day I went to the Millenia Mall to buy a new laptop, and the tour groups had taken over the mall, the Apple store in particular where all the kids were posting on "MySpace" so I couldn't even get to a computer to try a few things before buying it. I got so frustrated that I walked out and ordered the system online instead.

We just returned last night and came across the groups in every single park although we had the most direct contact at Epcot.

At the Fastpass for Test Track, I was next to two different tour guides for two different groups who were inserting (at different machines mind you--one on each side of me) the huge stacks of tickets to get their group members' Fastpasses.

When we were in the Mexico pavillion, a large group was blocking the walkway to take a picture, grabbing sombreros from the cart behind them and tossing them around. We were at Seasons food court in the Land when several (50 or so), came down the escalators chanting a cheer or some of some sort.

Please don't misunderstand my frustration: I'm not saying anything against them for their nationality at all. But whenever you have large groups of teens together, they're going to get rowdy and be inconsiderate of those around them.

It's surprising but two different CMs (one in MK and one in Epcot) commented on these groups' rudeness to us! That just gives you an indication of how bad they can be.

I've heard nothing by wonderful things about them. And I'm being sarcastic BTW.

Tour groups will be there all year long. What we do is just hang back, wait about five minutes and then continue on.

BEWARE of the Brazillian Worst tour goups in the whole wide world. You see them run the other way don't walk run !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was told once by a person who used to live in Brazil(dad worked for a company there)that sending a teen to DW in the summer is a right of passage in Brazil. Families will scrimp and save no matter what to make sure there teen gets to go. I remember two very scary encounters with these groups, once I was in the MK the day after Brazil won the World Cup(98 I think) they were hording Main Street chanting at the top of there lungs about their great soccer team.

Last summer at Fantasmic, competing groups were trying to outshout each other. Very loud, and extremely annoying. They were very obnoxious until finally a middle aged guy got fed up , stood up up and began yelling at the top of his lungs, USA< USA, the crowd picked it up and ran with it. We actually were able to shout down the Brazilian teens. Like Winston Churchill, It was our finest hour!

The only time we have ever experienced the Brazilian tour groups was during our July trip a couple of years ago. We did a pretty good job of avoiding them in the parks that week. You really can't miss them. Just zig when they zag. We were staying at POFQ, and they apparently weren't staying there. They could be rude, and really annoying. Especially at the end of a long, hot, crowded day. The singing and chanting can get old. Trust me, you don't want to get on a bus with them. Very bad!!!!! I have never noticed them during Sept. or late Nov/early Dec. The only tour groups I saw during those times were Japanese groups, but those groups were on the other end of the behaviour spectrum.

I was in the parks 7/10-7/15. Saw the Brazilian kids each day. No biggie. Sure, their guide would be the fast pass volunteer, just use another machine. If the group is there when you arrive for your FP return time, usually they will let you go ahead. So what, they clap and cheer. They're having fun just like the rest of us.

We were there July 14-17. We saw them but did not experience any rudeness or bad behavior. Sounds like we lucked out!

Tour Guide Mike needs to post a section on his site on the best times/dates to avoid rude tour groups...haha

I've dealt with them in the past, too, and it wasn't fun..........the worst is when they try to cut in front of people in line and then act like they can't understand English. One thing I don't understand is people getting upset over the tour guide getting the groups fastpasses. The alternative is to have a hundred of them in the line at the FP machine creating quite a "bottle neck".

During our Christmas trip we didn't see any Brazilian groups...Hallllllllelujahhh! Halllelujahh! I remember how bad they get in the summer months though. I don't buy that bit about they're just having fun with all their antics and stunts they pull. I think they know darn well how annoying they can be and take pride in it. It was particularly rough one year when we stayed at the all-star music. The place was crawling with Brazilian teenagers and they were so inconsiderate with the volume level at all hours and they even stole our refillable mugs in the food court but I won't get into that. I would definitely avoid the value resorts because that's where they stay for the most part. You should be safe at a mod or deluxe. We are planning a trip for next July and I only hope that the place will not be overrun with them!

I to have had my share with the annoying brats. OMG their singing and chanting they do! If I have to hear one more of them when I go down next time, Im probably gonna end up screaming right in the middle of the park out of frustration and tell them to stop or get out. Im sure all the CMs wont mind that! You would think Disney would set some kind of rule for that. I mean they are loud, inconsiderate, and rude and they have ruined my vacation twice because I would get so mad that they actually were ruining my fun. Im sure they probably have ruined some other families happy times as well. And yes I have riden on a bus with them - BIG MISTAKE! Its so hard to avoid them and ignoring them? Its IMPOSSIBLE to ignore them. And oh they cant speak english? Since when? I always have someone coming up to me asking what time it is or where this and that is and they speak good english. I dunno but I think someone needs to start a petition to where these kids arent aloud to carry on like they do anymore. And if they do, they get kicked out of the park. I mean we dont pay thousands of dollars to go down to WDW only to have those kids acting like they own the place and can be loud as they want. Yea it maybe a theme park, but look at the times they arent there. Its SO much quiter without them. I remember one time I was at the entrance of MGM and I could hear them all the way down by TOT. And that is pretty bad. I shouldnt be able to hear them. They litereally drownded out everyone else around them and me. Why do they gotta be doing a bunch of chanting and singing anyways? You dont see other people going around chanting and singing songs throughout the parks and hotels. Which by the way last time we went down it was at the end of September and we didnt see them. But we never been in August before. How bad is it?? If its just as bad as July I might be saying Um hunny, change of plans, we are going in September, LOL. Screw the anniversary. We'll just celebrate it a month late thats all. If it can save me from loosing my temper and actually have a good time, I'm all for it!

Adding: I just found this on a website. It was from 2003, but it will do.
Number of Brazilian tour groups falling?
The Sarasota Herald-Tribune reports that Walt Disney World has closed its travel office in Sao Paolo, Brazil, after being open for seven years. The number of Brazilian visitors to Orlando dropped more than 50 percent from 2001 to 2002, compared to a drop of 22 percent for all international visitors. Looks like we'll see fewer of those large groups of brightly colored shirts following a flag around the Magic Kingdom.

I think a lot of people would ague this point with you. I know I'd rather encounter Brazillian teenagers than American cheerleaders any day of the week.

I just found a pretty funny/sad/sick article about this situation regarding the tour groups. If you want me to email you the link then please pm me. :goodvibes

:rotfl2: LOL, you guys are funny! I have been to disney hundreds of times, ive seen them on almost every trip and i have never had a problem with them. They are usually young kids trying to have fun and they might be loud sometimes but they are just like any other groups of young kids that go to disney world. Actually ive been at disney when there were tons of schools there having their field trips (local schools) and the kids were terrible they were throwing rocks and ice at families, standing up during rides yelling at random people, they were horrible :furious: The only complaint i have about the brazillians is that they wear those REALLY bright green and yellow shirts and when you have thousands of them wearing the same thing at the park it kinda starts hurting your eyes. ;)
