I just booked the Africa Wild Trek for my DD's birthday on August 3rd and was told that there is no DVC discount during summer months for Tours. Is this true? I did not see any black out dates on the DVC website.

A couple years ago, DVC started listing a few major holidays as being blacked-out for member perks. Now the disclaimer is fairly open ended, implying that they can block-out dates at will. This is the first that I've heard of discounts not applying for extended periods like that. Hate to make extra work for you but it probably wouldn't hurt to call and ask again...get a different CM.

Also note that tour discounts are offered to many other groups: pass holders, Disney Visa cardholders, even AAA members last I heard. Wouldn't hurt to ask if any other groups qualify for discounts on that date.

Do they even do tours during very busy times?
I'm thinking of doing the Keys to the Kingdom Tour between Christmas and New Years but even wonder if they will give it?
Maybe I'll call next week and find out unless anyone knows (which I am sure they do LOL).

Call them again-we are going in August also & when I originally made the res no discount was available. When I looked earlier this week, online it was BUT when I called they said it was available only for some tour times. Although it would have saved about $100 for 2 people, I really want the undiscounted 8:30 am tour time to see the animals at their most active. FYI, I called MS, not WDW tours.

Good luck!

Also, they've reduced the age to 12 for Backstage Magic so I was able to add that also, with a discount.

I haven't done one during the holidays at WDW but have at DL so I imagine WDW also Offers them. They make extra money on them so no reason not to!

We did our Keys to the Kingdom tour in late July last summer - with a discount.

We did a new tour, Sense of Africa in early June and we could not get any discount for it, DVC, AP or Disney Visa. I didn't know if it was because it was a new tour or it was because it was during the designated summer period.

Would you mind telling me more about this? I have it booked for my upcoming September trip with no discount offered either and I'm a little unsure if it's worth the money.

OP - I have seen more new offerings without the opportunity for discounts, but I think they might be holding out to see how quickly they book up. Maybe try to call back closer to your actual date and see if there's any discounts then? Never hurts to check in on occasion.

. . .

We loved it. We started with breakfast at Boma with additional foods on our group table plus anything on the morning breakfast buffet. With POG juice, coffee and tea. Then we went to three of the barns, seeing the Okapis (photo op touching one); Giraffes (fed them); Red River Hogs, made snacks for them and hid them in the yard and watched them hunt them down, and later fed the ostriches too. We were given a water bottle and a trading pin. It ran from around 7:00 am - 10:30 AM. We were to arrive at Jambo House at 6:45 AM meeting at the library. There were only 8 guests in our group (12 is the maximum).

It was very expensive but we both loved it!
