i have a question about Jaws for a die hard Universal fan or maybe someone who works there... on jaws does the skipper actually guide the boat or is the boat on a track. i know that theres obviously no "grenade" in the grenade launcher, but i was just thinking about this the other day. just curious...

yep, it's definitely on a track - well it was in August anyway!!

Don't know if I should start a new thread ... or if someone will answer here.

On this ride...does the shark attack BOTH sides of the boat? As you load and head out...is it better to sit on the right or the left in terms of LESS SHARK...and LESS potential WET factor??? Thanks!!!

I can't swear by this....but I seem to remember the shark appearing on both sides of the boat during various parts of the ride. I personally prefer sitting on the left side of the boat. The "destroyed" tour boat is on this side and the finale with the fire and the shark appears on the left side as well(as best as I can recall--it's been about a year). On a side note, I highly recommend trying to ride this attraction at night. During the day, the water is quite clear and you can easily see the shark waiting just beneath the surface(a fact my friend pointed out consistently throughout the ride). At night, the water is darker and you can't anticipate when the shark will pop up.
Enjoy!

better shark views on the left as well as the chances of getting wet.

Less shark, less water and less heat on the right side of the boat. You still get the scary boathouse scene on the right side though.

reminder to anyone going to universal soon:
jaws is closed, has been closed, andwill remained closed for a while and possible forever
im sure someone can shed more light on this... :confused3

It isn't closing forever. This much is gauranteed. Universal doesn't handle these issues the same way Disney does. (20K anyone?)

An employee told me last year that Jaws would be getting a makeover. He said they would be adding more trills and special effects. I hope this is true. I'm hoping that it's open for our trip in May. It is my 9 year old's favorite ride. We rode it 9 or 10 times the last trip.
