Tough to be a Bug - Scary ?

Taking our 6 yo DGD for her first ever WDW visit. I've heard that It's tough to be a bug is scary ? Anyone help with this ?? Thanks

When Animal Kingdon opened my entire family went into, It's Tough To Be A Bug. My youngest daughter was four at the time and was scared to death. The sad part-she did not want to do ANY of the other 3D shows and was worried that every other ride would be scary.

AND, I was scared too. I hated those stingy bugs and the feeling of creatures running up and down your back. I left early with my youngest.

On the other hand, my husband and two other daughters loved it.

My opinion-if you're not sure of her reaction-don't go.

You have to "geek them up!, get excited!!, tell them what to expect"! Then, they will love it.

Well I have to say (I am 33 ) I was a little traumatized by parts of it. I had my DS (age 4) on my lap and because of that he didn't experience some of the effects. I don't want to give to much away . Maybe try that if you think it will be too much for her. If she doesn't like bugs of any kind it might be to intense for her. Being an adult I just had to suck it up

The first time we saw it, DS was 6. I had to take him out about 2 minutes before the end. He was terrified. 2 weeks ago we went in again (he's now 8 yo) & he was fine with it.

We took DS2 and DD3 and they did ok until the giant spiders dropped from the ceiling (we still haven't recovered from that ) a 6 year old will probably be fine though.

Everytime I see ITTBAB there are screams and cries from children. Some parents are curteous enough to leave with their frightened child, some tough it out and ruin the show for those around them. If you have any reason to believe your child will be scared, she probably will be.

I took DS when he was about 8 the 1st time. He hated it. He will do it still but is not comfortable. So I don't really push it and let him decide when we get there.

We also did Honey I shrunk the audience. He loved the before show (they called him on stage and had the entire theater sing Happy Birthday to him), but he REALLY hated that show. By the time he finished with Muppets 3-D, he was close to a meltdown. He refuses to do these two at all.

When my DS was 3 we had to take the walk of shame during the show. When we got outside there were at least 10 other famlies there and more to follow. I was cracking up. There was even a CM there giving out little toys to the kids. It was like it was part of the show. I think he will be better this year at 4 1/2. Have a great time.

I'm terrified of spiders so I knew right away I wouldn't like it and I'm 31. But the rest of the family did it so I did too. Some of the effects are a little intense if you don't like bugs, but if they don't bother you or your child, then it should be OK.

Our grandson was 3 and his dad had to hold him in the beginning of the show, he was scared for awhile, but half way through the show he was lovn' it. Tell her what the show is about and she will be prepared and will probably enjoy it.

I can't remember if our DD was 2 or 3 when we saw It's Tough to be a Bug (terrible, I know - what kind of mother am I?) I think she was 3. She's 4 now, and definately remembers it. But oddly enough, the reason she doesn't want to see it again is because "it's too stinky"!

Of all the bits of the movie she decided to get hung up on, it was the stinkbug! And she loves the Figment ride. So I guess the point of my tale is - every kid's different, and even if you think you know your kid - they might surprise you with what they don't like!

My dd was 3 and 5 when we took her. Both times she was terrified. She didn't like Hopper slapping the audience with a flyswatter. It took a bit to get her to calm down.

Years ago my 6 DD and I went to see it, it scared the wits out of us. She would not see a 3D movie for years. I did not even approach the movie with her now (12) nor my 5 DS. If you must see it for some reason or another--dont wear the glasses.

My son saw it for the first time when he was 4 and hated it . I missed most of it because I was too busy comforting him. We just saw it on Tuesday and he was fine now. There were a lot of screaming kids in the audience though - the show was a walk-on too, hard to believe. I enjoyed the show except for the bees or whatever that are on your back.

When we went in 2004, my kids were 2, 6, & 8. They hated it and we had to take them out. It sort of ruined the rest of the 3D movies that year. None of the kids wanted to go to any of the "movies".

We went last year and did not attempt It's Tough To Be A Bug. We WILL be going next year. Kids will be 7, 10 & 12. They better like it then. They liked the other 3D movies last year.

My suggestion is to work up to it. Try Philharmagic. Then maybe the Shrinking movie at Epcot (for the life of me, I cannot think of the name...) Then if they like those, they will probably be okay during the Bug one. It will be dark at times, so make sure they are prepared.
