This looks like so much fun to me but my two daughters are terrified of spiders (don't know where they got that from... :confused3... really...:rolleyes1). Are there spiders in here? Big ones? Little ones?

My youngest especially would likely not recover from a spider scare so I thought I should ask this before we just go for it.

I really like this show, but I'd have the agree with the PP. If they are spider squeamish, you might want to give it a miss.

I love the parks so much, but this is the ONLY attraction that I stay clear of. I have a fear of spiders, and as a grown adult I stay far away. The show is cute but can definitely be skipped.

I went to check it out for DS, and I had to cover my eyes and slouch way down to deal with the idea of those things after they came down. And they weren't anywhere near me. Bleah.

I don't like spiders either and that is the scene that got to me as an adult. I'd steer clear, having said that it was a pretty amazing show and my DS6 and hubby loved every minute of it.

this attraction caused my dsis-in-lw to end on the floor crying hysterically. and she is in her 30s. so if you have any doubts about your daughters being able to handle it or not, it is better to err on the side of caution!

Apparently unlike the few other replies suggest that the spiders are horrid I don't have arachnophobia.

There is also a brighly colored, having fun, tarantola who shoots into the crowd.

I think the scare factor comes from feeling these things shoot at you. Your seat has physical effects built in to it and it's overall dark. Things come down from the cieling. You get sprayed.

It's a really good show but not for anyone who is timid.

I too am scared of spiders, but I didn't have a problem with this ride!

Is that because we only have little black widows here but you have spiders that can kill a man by looking at them over in the down under?

I am terrified of spiders, but I still want to see this show. How long does the spiders dropping from the ceiling go for (gives me the shivers just writing that!)? Is it possible to just close your eyes before they start and open them when they're all gone? How would I tell (ie which part is directly before the spiders)?

Also it would depend on what sort of spiders they are - if they're big hairy ones (don't know if you have huntsmans in the US, but that type) I wouldn't cope at all. If they're the smaller more spindly ones it wouldn't bother me as much. I don't mind daddy long-legs at all!

I have seen the Shrek 4D show (we have it at Movieworld in Australia) and closed my eyes when I saw the spiders coming and my boyfriend told me when to open them again - I worked well and I was able to enjoy the show :)

THe scene others refer to is dark, loud and tons of fake smoke. Giant spiders drop from the ceiling and hang a few feet overhead but only for less than a minute. Younger kids often get scared at this part not from the spiders so much but from the dark and loud noises and action.

My favourite thing to do before going is checking out Youtube videos of the ride to know if it's not for me. Spiders aren't my thing either, but I found it incredible. Maybe it's because I like being scared :lmao: it's such an incredible adrenaline rush feeling!

Here's a decent quality video. Just check it out to see what it's all about and then you yourself can make the best decision regarding your daughters.

If you decide perhaps it'll be okay, you can maybe keep a mental note to make them face forward during the spider bit, so they don't look up.

I was sitting in the second row, so I was mostly choking a wee bit on the smoke and getting sprayed by a bug in the face.
If they can handle it, it would be neat to go to.

I love this attraction so much!

I saw this a while back, i think i was about 12 or so, so at least 10 years ago. I still remember that part, vividly, and not in a good way. It freaked me out terribly and apparently scarred me a bit, lol. That is, assuming the DL version is the same as the WDW one.

Well I'm a full grown woman with a huge fear of spiders......during the spider part I sat far forward in my seat, hunched over, and refused to look up....those spiders are HUGE and SCARY so if I was you I'd skip it. The rest of the fam loved it, but I HATED it and couldn't wait to leave......the show itself was cute, but the spiders were too much for me......

Thanks for the link - will check it out. I'm really hoping that at least if I know when the spiders are I can just close my eyes for that bit and enjoy the rest of the show :)

Will let you know how I go - maybe those worried about their kids could do the same thing if it works?

Not good! I couldn't get past that big red spider at the beginning. Think this will be a no-go for me :( I think it's in re-furb most of the time we're there anyway.

The red spider is Chuy and is very comical. Most kids don't have trouble at that part. They get scared later when the big spiders drop from the ceiling and it gets dark and loud.
