TotWL - For DVC Members only now, not just staying on points??

"This perk is available exclusively to Members and those in their traveling party who are staying on that Member's reservation. At least one Member in the traveling party must accompany the group and present his or her current Key to the World card displaying a Disney Vacation Club Membership notation in order to gain admission to the lounge and observation deck. If the Member's Key to the World card doesn't display a Membership notation, a Disney Vacation Club Member ID is required in addition to the Key to the World card to verify Membership."

So one question to clarify for me please, we have our room and another room booked on same night for our friends - all on our points but of course their room is a different reservation. So will I be allowed to take them up there? If they scan our Magic band it will only be for a party of two in our room if they can see that. Someone said if in our room but it is on our points and we will be there too. What do you all think our chances are? Thanks!

I think that it's up to the CM checking you in. Some will stick to what they think are the rules, others have the intelligence to question the reason for the rule and decide if your friends will over populate the venue.

oh ok, I guess that was my question - was that still within the rules since with us on our points but in another room. Sounds like you are saying that they have to be in the same room. Oh well, plenty of other places to go. Thanks for the information.

We have found at Disney that the rules and CM's change so often, it can be frustrating. People break the rules all of the time, sometimes on purpose, sometimes out of ignorance. Disney CM's pick and choose what rules/policies to enforce and some don't understand the rules themselves.

I had a long discussion at SSR explaining the room cleaning policy to several CM's including managers who didn't understand the policy. You would think that the front desk would know the policy, all but one, didn't.

I guess my point is, it doesn't hurt to discuss and ask. Disney wants it's guests to be happy, I would give it a try and if they won't let you in, watch the fireworks from the sky bridge between BLT and CR.

can you book two rooms under one reservation? If not, then, no, your scenario would not fall within the rules.

Yes, I have had those types of experiences as well!!!! It certainly won't make or break our vacation so we will make plans around it. Thanks for your help!

Supersnoop: I don't think you can have two rooms on one reservation number - at least I have never seen that as long as we have been members. They can "link" them but not under one number - that would have been good though!

that's silly! so you are treating a whole group, with your points, and you will be there.. but you all have to cram into the same room? waht if you want your privacy?

I say go. they just didn't think of every single possible "permutation";) when they wrote the rule.

not only would I take my entire group to the lobby elevator, if there was a problem , I would ask for a supervisor. your whole group is at disney WITH you, on your points. period.

I still say that who gets to go up to TOTWL is under the control of the CM in the lobby. Even the re-written rule is out of date because KTTW cards are no longer given out to everyone. As long as valid members aren't being displaced by others, I don't see a problem with others using points to have access.

The reality is if Disney doesn't sell enough drinks and food, they will close the lounge.

exactly. and as another poster stated,if not only expanding it to rented points, but cash reservations as well. or even gasp! CR guests.

there seems to be some confusion betweenthe actual "lounge" and the fireworks viewing area. that are does get crowded, jsut before and during the fireworks. then they all go away.

and the actual lounge isn't making any money (esp. with members bringing in their own pizza and soda!) nor are the servers or bartenders.

If you are there with them to go up to TOTWL I'd say odds are that you will all be allowed to go up. But as has been mentioned before there ends up being some variance depending on the CM checking.

Guess we all need to support the TOTWL better if we expect it to stay exclusive. :scared:

Just made plans to go up after the MC! Dinner at the Wave, then up for fireworks!

Yes, we'll enjoy some drinks!

I can't wait to enjoy it! My kids are now to the age where we can all sit and enjoy a few drinks (non alcoholic for them) without any screaming. AMEN!

DH and I just stayed at BLT last month. We used the lounge 3 nights. Each time we went up, they scanned our MB's and we still had to present our member card - 3 different cast members. This was the week beginning mother's day so it wasn't a particularly busy time of year.

I just came back 4 days ago I am a member that was staying at AKL my family went with me in diffenent rooms staying on my points. All they did was scan my magic band I asked my sister to meet me and my family there one night (she is not a member) they scanned her band and let her up no problems (i had asked her to call me if there was a problem i would have come down) so in my experience they just check to see if you are staying on points I have NEVER been asked to show my membership card . just the key to the world card prior to magic bands. so good luck
