TOTWL - can you just show up before fireworks start?

We haven't been up since the retheming. We always like to start our vacation with MK fireworks but this year, our first night at WDW is a MNSSHP night.

From what I have read, if you want to go to TOTWL, you have to show up at 5:30 or so and get on a wait list. If we just showed up at 9:30, would there be any way to get in? We are at AKL the first night and would not want to make the trek all the way to BLT only to be denied entry.

Assuming you are eligible, you can show up shortly before fireworks and they will let people up to the observation deck FCFS…which should not be a problem.

If you want to go up for drinks and sit at the bar, or a table, that Is when it’s possible to need a waitlist.
