Totally Unrealistic AKV Expectations?

We're actively looking to purchase resale in Saratoga Springs but ideally, would like to stay in AKV this December (mid December dates). Pretty much willing to take whatever rooms they might have (hoping for 1BR or 2BR savannah view of course).

Assuming we make an offer, buy successfully and close in June (since it is now April), is it completely crazy unrealistic for me to hope to be able to secure any kind of a AKV reservation for mid December dates? If I bought in SSR, I'd be perfectly happy with a SSR december reservation (if i can get it), but would love to stay at AKV this year. ... Impossible on this hoping to buy resale timeframe?

I wouldn't think closing will be an issue, but avalibiliy maybe. Dec is a popular month or DVC'ers....can't hurt to try, but as always - stay loose and have a plan b.

I would guess that this Dec you should be ready to be happy with any availability(at any resort) by mid-Dec. Next year you will have a bit more of a chance but this year you will be looking at being closer than 7 months out when you can call for availibility.

Without question, this is the best advice. You'll have many years to use your DVC, don't base where you buy on the place you can get into for this December. Buy where you love the most.

Once you get past the 14 of december I think the chances are reasonably good (of course the points per night almost double)

Your chances for this Dec are decent but you'll be past the 7 month window by the time you close. As for where to buy, it depends on your long term expectations. SSR will be the best value but you may not get what you want consistently at the 7 month window.

There are already plenty of DVC rooms "Sold out" for those dates already, and we haven't even reached the 7 month window yet for the 1st week of December. I'm still waiting to see if we can book a 2 bedroom instead of a 1 bedroom for that time period at OKW.

Dec is hard to get period.

if you know that you can only plan at 7 months or later - then SSR makes alot of sense.

however you might not get what you want.

ssr or okw would be your best bet for this dec - but don't surprise if you have to go on a wait list even for them.
