TOTALLY ignorant to cruising.......

Dave _ from _ Marietta,

It was the Carnival cruise line. Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but I could have sworn that we didn't pay for sodas. There was a pizza "parlor" on one of the upper decks of the ship that provided pizza 24/7, and there were soda fountains and ice cream machines available in that same area that were a "free-for-all."

Do they have this kind of free-for-all on the Disney cruises or is the only food that's a "freebie" the actual meals themselves?

Thanks,
Daphne:wave:

Hey, Dave, I know of one cruise where non-alcohol beverages are free at all times, in fact, wine and beer are included at meal times. It's Radisson's M/S Paul Gauguin Tahiti explorer. Gratuities are also included. It's my dream cruise, and if I have my way, it's going to be my vacation for 2004. :)

I found this at the Carnival web site...

Guests may... purchase a Fountain Fun Card which will allow them unlimited soft drinks for the duration of the cruise, at a one time purchase price (including gratuities). With the exception of room service, the Fountain Fun Card may be used wherever beverage service is available.

Yes, you can get food outside of meals. Pinnochio's Pizzeria and Pluto's Dog House are open most of the day.

akterrye, I can't find any info on food/drink at Radisson's web site (www.rssc.com). Looks like a nice line. Interesting small ships going to some interesting destinations.

WOW!!! Thanks for the info!!!!!!
& thanks, Dave, for the link! Now, if I can find one to Fiji, I'm all set!

Unlike other cruise lines, Disney does provide every stateroom with a mini fridge/cold box and passengers are welcomed to bring their own beverages on board to keep in their rooms. Can't beat that!

I was on the 3 day Wonder cruise last week and found the soda mugs worked great for my two teens. They certainly got their money's worth out of the $15 mug and Castaway Cay was so hot, they kept the waitstaff running back and forth with free refills, along with Konk Koolers for the adults, LOL!!

The sit down restaurants do include soft drinks with meals, and the deck 9 buffet has juice with meals. Outside on that deck there is a 24 hr coffee, tea and milk station with water available too.

Hope this helps.

Dave: the info was in the now drool soaked brochure I got from Radisson. Another plus, their room service will deliver any item from any onboard resturant to any place onboard. So, if you feel like dining on lobster next to the pool, it's just a phone call away. Now, THAT is what I call service! :)

dylan'smom: my pleasure, and let me know if you find the one to Fiji, that's another place on my "must visit before I die" list! :)

akterrye, I think I'm going to have to order a brochure as well. I wonder if they have a laminated version to protect it from my drool?!?
