OK, I should have been doing something else...
It started when I wondered how many points it would take to stay at BCV all year long. Caskbill's DVC Vacation Planner program made that easy:
16,715 for a 2BR
12,850 for a 1BR
6,427 for a Studio
Of course one person isn't even allowed to own that many points, but I wondered how much it would cost at current price:
$1.4M for a 2BR
$1.1M for a 1BR
$540K for a Studio
It lends a little perspective. There are places in the "real world" where housing is that expensive, but not many.
And if we knew how many of each there were...
I didn't have the official figures, but WebmasterDoc's BCV configuration thread had usable info. I assumed half were sold at $75 and half at $84 just to get a good estimate. I assumed the lockoffs would be used as 2BRs half the time, and as separate units the other half. The grand total:
$270M in point sales for BCV! (After it's all sold.)
Now if we only knew what the construction costs were, and conveniently ignored all other considerations, we could compute the (no doubt obscene) profit...
