Any quick advice for me? I booked my trip today for end of April 2010...and I need more info! Here's my question. When do I get my park tickets? I'll try to make this make sense...I am driving down from Alabama on Monday April 26th. I don't get to check in at Pop Century until Tuesday April 27th, around 4pm according to Disney's site. We were planning on staying off Disney grounds that Monday night, and heading to a park first thing Tuesday morning. I see that you pick up your tickets, and other stuff at your resort when you check in. Will they let me have those things Tuesday morning, before checkin? I'm confused as to how I'm going to get into the park and use all my five days if they don't give me all of my stuff until I check in that afternoon. Before I booked it, I was assuming they mail me all the things I need. I also went with the quick service dining plan, and silly me, I thought they would mail me that too. I'm completely confused by all of it. Any help? Am I going to have to add another Pop Century room for Monday night, just so I can have all my things? Or can I even do that at this point? Lol, told you. Total Newb! :lmao:

Welcome fellow Alabamaian!! These boards will provide you with a wealth of information for your upcoming trip. :disrocks:

You may go to your resort Tues morning and check in and receive your park tickets even if your room is not ready. The resort will even store your luggage if you'd like or you can keep it in you car until later.

The dining plan is in the form of credits that are encoded on your room key/park tickets. It will be activated when you check in the resort.

You're going to have so much fun. Enjoy your planning and your trip!:thumbsup2

Thank you so much! Apparently they have it all organized huh? I'm glad. I really can't wait! I've been a million times, but the most recent was in 2002. My husband and daughter have never been, so I am crazy excited! They're going to have a blast!

Go straight to the hotel and check in. They may even have a room ready for you. If not, you can leave your bags with the concierege and still go into the parks. If you don't get a room right away, you can always call back to the hotel and see when the room is ready.

Enjoy the park and take a midday break at the hotel. Go back and enjoy the rest of the day.

Did you get park hoppers? If not, you CAN go in to one park, leave, and come back into that same park.

Since you are doing QS DP you don't have to worry about dinner reservations.

Have you picked up a guide book yet? Check out Passporter or Unofficial Guide.

Good luck!

i was about to ask if i could reenter the park without a park hopper! thanks! i didn't get park hopper since we'll be there five days for the parks, there's only four parks...so i figure we'll do magic kingdom twice since it's got all my fave things. i haven't picked up a guide book. books a million? or is there a site where i can get one mailed to me?

You can get guide books at BAM! on Amazon, anywhere. Good luck!

I took my DH and DD this past september for my 30th b'day. It was their first time! We had such a blast. Looking back though, I wish that I haden't been so worried about her getting too hot. So maybe next time, we will pick a cooler time of year. Just have fun. I had read here that the biggest deal is planning too much. I do wish that I had planned a little more to make sure I got all of the good rides in. I feel like we spent too little time at HS, maybe b/c I felt there wasn't as much for DD2 at the time. She enjoyed TS and the play house disney stuff. I wish I had thought to find more indoor stuff earlier in the week. Our best days were the last 2 where we just did what we wanted to cover and then went back to rest.
Just enjoy it! Oh and take plenty of pictures of everything. When I read the PTR I wish that I had taken more pictures of random things and not just of the castle and the family!!
Have fun!! And welcome to the DIS, I learned soooo much here!!
Oh and as for the guides, I actually just went to the Bookstore one afternoon and read through the guides. I felt like I didn's learn much more than what I had picked up here!!:upsidedow

You mentioned 5 days and 4 parks. So I take it you didn't addon the water parks? They are excellent water parks.

Also, I am not sure how it works with a trip booked directly with a resort ( I have only gone as DVC member), but you may be able to pre-register online. We did this last August and that made it even quicker when we got there. We did like you.... arrived early and went to parks... and after pre-registering they had our packet completely ready. We were in and out in less than 10 minutes! Worth seeing if you can do that.

No I took the water park option off, I didn't figure we'd really use it, and I'd rather spend my time at the Disney parks and make the most of those. Plus it was cheaper to add another day of park, and night of stay, than it was to have park hopper and water park on a four day 3 night stay. Plus...don't laugh...but I have a slight water phobia. I don't do well with water, so it wouldn't be very enjoyable! I did find a ten day prior online checkin, that I will definitely take advantage of. I've also read that they will text message me when my room is ready so I can relax and enjoy the park and not worry about it. Very very happy about that. After reading all these threads I've found amazing, and totally helpful information. The only thing that kinda sucks is the internet fee. I know it's not much, but I literally only need five minutes a day to check my email so it's kinda silly to pay $50 for internet. And I don't have AOL, so no dialup for me. Oh well, maybe I'll pay for one day right in the middle of my stay or something.

I feel safe in saying that if you don't like water, you made a good choice not going ;)

The internet thing is a pain. Luckily, most of the resorts now offer free internet if you are a DVC owner and we are, so I still can keep up. First year there though, they didn't offer it and it was a pain.
