How is Tower Of Terror? I'm not much into thrill rides, but would like to try this at least once. How is it when it drops? :confused3
Thanks

I believe there are random drops so you may fall several times. The speed is enough that you will come off the seat slightly. I would say give it a shot, but I'm willing to try anything once. My daughter has rode it every year since she was seven. Every year she says she won't ride it again and the next trip she is on and ready to go.

This is my favorite ride. The feeling you get as you are lifted up and then dropped is so much fun. The ride seems to last longer than it used to with more drops than before. You will come up off your seat a few times. You will love it!!! :goodvibes

I'm not much of a thrill ride person either. I'm 22 and I've only rode 4 roller coasters that go upside down. When I went to MGM, I decided to ride TOT and it was great fun. I loved it. We went back the day we left just to ride TOT one more time. I got a shirt and everything....oh, one of the 4 upside down coasters I rode was the aerosmith ride at MGM. It was also GREAT!!! I loved it being dark, so I did not know what would happen!!! :)

LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT! Theming is incredible, it's much more than the final drop (though that's the highlight!) and it gives you a great view of MGM!

Give it one shot and just see - I was terrified my first time on it, but we ended up going back 5x in a row to ride it.

You'll love TOT... but I have to tell about the one time we were really freaked out when we were moving forward (for those of u who know it) past the starfield after we'd passed the breaking glass/etc. and suddenly all went dark. The A/C and everything went out and the ride stopped. We sat there for a few moments in the heat and pitch dark..then all of the sudden the power was up and we were free falling. This was so freaky since you usually know when the drop is coming, but when we stalled out and then it was just a free fall...WHOA. At first I thought this was a new technique meant to frighten you further, but when we unloaded from the ride, a maintenence man was heading up in the real service elevator. It was a blast.

I'm not a giant ride person at this point in my life - but I rode TOT in May and loved it! The theming is great! I was a bit apprehensive going into the waiting line - I did it by myself while DH waited with the kids - but when I saw small children and more "mature" adults waiting to get on I went for it. It was a LOT of fun!

I avoided TOT on our first three family trips. I finally decided to try it in 2000 for my DS (now almost 15) who always wanted to go on. From the outside of the "hotel" throughout the inside it is really a great job of setting up the show. When I first rode we had the bars inside and not seat belts. I held on with all I had during the drops. When we finished I was totally awed by the experience. It is now my absolutely favorite ride in the world (not just WDW). The computer program was changed a couple of years ago so there are four different drop sequences. You never know which one you will get as the computer decides. At least one of the sequences sends you up first. There are multiple drops on all the sequences. Truly an awesome experience. During our trip last month my DS and I managed 24 rides on the Tower of Terror!!!! If time didn't run out on us we would have had more!

the drops are great, but the effects are not to be missed.

this is my favorite ride too!!! Try to sit in the front row, so you're view is unobstructed. with the different drop sequences, you never know what you're going to get, which adds to the excitement!!

My nephew is the same way...every year we go and he says "I am not going on that"...then we walk by it and he says "LETS DO IT"...then after the ride..."NO way I am going on that ever again"!

The drop(s) happen so fast it takes a second to register! A lot of FUN

Well I have to be honest here.

TOT is one of my favorites but I dont want anyone misled.

My dad can ride anything that doesnt spin alot. So with TOT he rode it with me.

He rode most everything else at WDW but did NOT like TOT. He never experienced free falling before and while you may LOVE thrill rides, or not, you never know how your body will react to falling from a sitting position. It's different than a rollercoaster.

Im not trying to scare anyone as I think TOT is EASY AS CAKE, but, even though you know it's a ride and you're safe, when you experience free falling for the first time, from a sitting position, your body can go into instinct mode and it isn't fun.

My dad really got in bad shape last week on the ride during the dropping. In fact after the ride he was breathing very heavy and was afraid that if it went much longer he was going to have a serious health problem.

I seriously don't mean to scare anyone from this ride as I love it so so much, but with my father I learned a very valuable lesson with TOT. I learned that as fans of these rides, we can't just always say it's easy because we think it's easy and we have to look at each person individually.

I only tell the OP this because they mentioned they dont like thrill rides.

You may want to do it, but if you don't know how you'd feel sitting in a chair and the bottom falling out, and then being sent back up over and over and doing it again and again, you may reconsider.

TOT is great. The story throughout the whole ride is awsome. Last trip in Dec. I got DW to at least go through the line. She rode MS and got sick. Had to sit out for 2 hours. This trip in October she has promised to ride it. Maybe it has something to do with my bday wish for her to ride it (can't wait to get that picture :rotfl2: ) or maybe it has something to do with the Cirq tickets I got her for her bday. :rotfl: Either way it will be a blast.

hmm, I was actually to scared to get on this last time I went..but I think I'll try it this time! I actually love the drops in rollercoaster, they are my fav...
I saw a picture of the inside of TOT and it reminded me a lot of those rides where you get a large group in and they kind of go in a circle up real high and then drop....does anyone know what I'm talking about ?? :teeth:

Yes La Donna I know what you are talking about. We have one of those at Kings Island near us called Drop Zone. TOT is similar but for me it wasn't as intense because you are "inside" a car thingy. On Drop Zone like rides it's pretty much out in the open making it much scarier IMO.

Has anyone ever been to Six Flags in Chicago and rode the Hellivator? I am curious if TOT is pretty much the same kind of ride as this.

Thanks

Have you ever gone over a dip or a bump in the road unexpectedly and felt your stomach go up and down and feel kind of fluttery? You know, when the kids all say "wheeeeeee!" If you ever felt that on the school bus you'll remember bouncing up out of your seat for a second...

Now imagine that feeling in slow mo... for about 5 seconds instead of one. That's sort of the feeling of ToT. It's not really unpleasant... just weird. The part that makes me the most nervous is never knowing which sequence you'll get... you'll think you had the last drop and suddenly there's another one! But we love it!
