I have a question about TOT in MGM. What is the most number of times you drop? I have read it is random but what is the most? I might could handle a couple of drops but more than that I just don't know. And how bad is it? Thanks all.

I don't know the number of drops, but I do know that I hated this ride beyond anything ever because I have a fear of falling. My DS6 at the time and DH liked it, but if you have a problem with the free fall/drop thing, you should avoid it.

We had 7 one time.

edit: Well, that's what it felt like anyway. I kind of lost the ability to tell if we were going up or down??

The number of drops is determined by the computer so there is no way to answer. I avoided this ride for a long time before finally deciding to try it. I can now say that without a doubt the Tower of Terror is my favorite ride of all time. Fabulous theming and incredible show. The zero gravity during the drops is incredible. Try it once to see if you like it.

Great ride---you have to do it at least once. My kids were 4 & 8 the first time and absolutely loved it. We love it too!!!

Its hard to say how many drops, I know they've increased it since it opened..I LOVE TOT its my favorite~ You should try it, its not as bad as it seems.. :)

Currently, there is a new drop sequence program known as Tower4. The drop sequence isn't actually randomly generated. There are four pre-programmed drop profiles (three new ones, and a slightly modified version of the existing "Twice the Fright" profile), and each time a vehicle enters the drop shaft, the ride computer randomly selects one of the four profiles, so it's not like it's actually making up a new ride each time, there are just many to choose from, as opposed to the same one each
time. The new profiles are enhanced by some new audio, smells, and a few other animatronics and visual effects.

I am completley impressed ! WOW--- Very cool how you know that stuff!! :sunny:

SPOILER ALERT.

The other night I rode TOT and I, as well as just about everyone in the elevator, am used to seeing the screen at the end of the ride and knowing that the ride is over.

Well, we had a fun drop sequence, I had already felt satisfied with the attraction. We get to the bottom and the screen came on. People clapped and laughed as they usually do at the end of the ride. But instead of the usual video, we saw the ghosts appear on it. I thought "huh, they must also have different endings" and a second or two later, swoooosh, back up for two or three more drops. Totally unnexpected.

It was awesome.

I guess I will try it if you say it is not too bad. My ds really wants to ride it my dd wants no part of it neither does dh. So it will be me having to ride with him. I made a deal if I ride TOT we do not ride Mission Space. I really dont want a headache or to be sick the rest of the day while on vacation. That is what I heard with Mission lots of people are sick. As long as my nerve holds out after getting to MGM and seeing TOT up close I am all in. Will let you know how I enjoyed it. Thanks to all.

In all my times riding Missing Space, I've only seen one person who looked sick after the ride. She was standing towards the entrance to the Advanced Training Lab (ie. post-show) at the water fountain. It did look like she didn't have any fun.

I'd say that MS is more likely to make you sick than TOT. And it's not as good of a ride.

In my opinion when you're loading in the elevator shaft is the most nerve racking time of the ride cause you just don't know when it's going to drop you or shoot you up. I don't really think the drops are that bad at all, but feeling your elevator bumping and scooting along when loading into that thing then you stop and wait........that's like the longest couple of seconds for me but it's the greatest couple of seconds also!! The anticipation will kill ya on this ride, but it is totally awesome and I would recommend it to anyone!!

Try to sit on the right side of the elevator car in the front row, you get a little handle to hang on to if you sit there, I find that hanging onto things always helps me be it a handle, the stranger next to me, or draining the blood out of DBF hand from squeezing it so tight. I know he secretly loves it when I do that :lmao:

well.....last month when my family went i was waiting for my dd 15 and dh to get off the ride and a cm came up to myself and my dd 9 (that wanted nothing to do with the ride) he came up to us and asked my dd 9 " so how did you like this ride?" she replied" oh no not me im scared!" he said how bout i make you a deal? she was listening...... he says you see this pin on my lanyard..... its a very rare pin you can only get in tokyo.... ill give you this pin and take you and your whole family through the back entrance so you dont have to stand in line...... and ill give you a free on ride picture.... if you go on this ride...... my dd 9 looked at me i was smiling ear to ear...... and said NO WAY!!!...... i even offered money....... but it was a no-go...... we laugh about it all the time....... i cant believe she passed that up..... but i got to ride anyway after my dh and dd 15 came off....... i thought it was great...... i went on power tower at cedar point and i hated it!!! but this ride was great!!! vicki

A few times our ride would be on the lamer side.
But 3 times we went on we had really long drop sequences.
That's half the fun of the ride (not knowing what to expect.)

This is the only ride at DisneyWorld that freaks me out so much.
