Tot wait times today (8/6)

does anyone know why tot has had much longer wait times than rnr today? Disney app showing tot at 120 minutes and rnr 45 minutes. That's odd right? All day it's been like that.??

There have been reports that a family that checked in was hit by a bolt of lightning. That may be accounting for the delays. Another reason could be that they are only running 1 elevator. Either way I'd be checking the lightning maps before I ventured on the elevators in this hotel.

They were only running one side of elevators. We had FastPasses and were in line for over 30 min. Standby was posted at 130 minutes then. The standby line wasn’t super long, but it wasn’t moving. They’d basically put one or two groups from standby into each prestos and fill the rest from FP. It must have been completely down for a while, too, because we got an anytime FP on the app.

They frequently have issues with banks of the elevators. It's not uncommon at all to even have them shut down stand by totally, allowing FP riders only, when it gets too bad. Plus, I think the reboot process takes a long time. The good news is, if you are there when it reopens they can push a whole lot of guests through really fast so it can be great, a really short wait, for a brief period. But then it will build fast to a really long wait when those who got an anytime FP pour back in to the queue.

Closing elevator makes sense but do they do it randomly? Do they do it when it's slow? That's terrible.

I believe it is more mechanical than a deliberate act.

We had a similar experience two weeks ago. Waiting at the "Entrance" to the basement for what seemed like an eternity. Barley moving, then all of a sudden the opened the other side back up, and we flew thru.

Yeah, it's not just for the sake of closing, it's because of mechanical problems.
