ToT - How many drops?

It's random every time you ride. I would estimate at least 5 for us last time we rode.

It varies now. I've never had less than 3.

Personally I like it a lot better with the multiple drops than the one big drop. That was too much for me. I used to ride it once per trip to make dh happy. Now it's just a few smaller drops, much easier on the tummy, good thing because it's my 5 yo's favorite ride.

Don't know exactly how many drops ToT had! I was too busy screaming and trying not to wet my pants. :rotfl2:

I was brave and did the roller coasters and MS and loved them but can safely say that I hated ToT and probably won't ride it ever again!

But, the real answer is: You never know, it's random. I don't think I could handle the one BIG one either!!! YIKES!!!

Currently, there is a new drop sequence program known as Tower4. The drop sequence isn't actually randomly generated. There are four pre-programmed drop profiles (three new ones, and a slightly modified version of the existing "Twice the Fright" profile), and each time a vehicle enters the drop shaft, the ride computer randomly selects one of the four profiles, so it's not like it's actually making up a new ride each time, there are just many to choose from, as opposed to the same one each
time. The new profiles are enhanced by some new audio, smells, and a few other animatronics and visual effects.

Do they not do the one big drop at the end?

Not necessarily. It depends on the sequence picked. I've never been on it when there's been a big drop. And, for me, the drops usually get less severe through the course of the sequence.

Sometimes you go up first, then down. We've found that sequence to be the most fun. ToT is my favorite attraction -- wish I were on it now!

I'm just like a previous poster I have no idea how many times we were dropped but it was a lot!!!! And I was screaming the whole time.I know that on the last one it went all the way to the top and then dropped! Very scary to me!

i am sure we dropped at least 5, some big some little ( thought we went up to the top open part twice on one trip if i am thinking right). it did seem different each itme though which is more fun since youdon't really know what to expect.... whooohooo!

yikes read the link in scotsmom post .hehe didn';t know you really dropped 13 stories :scared1: hehe

Back in the day... I was on ToT shortly after it opened. At that time, it dropped twice.
About six months later, I went back to WDW and they had increased it to three times.

Does anyone else NOT like going up first?? I used to love the anticipation of that first big drop, but now it seems like it always goes up first, and it's just not as exciting a thrill. Just my two cents!

Is the tickly feeling in your tummy worse than Splash Mountain? I can barley handle that drop and I fear TOT is worse!

I love when it goes up right away and you DON'T EVEN KNOW IT! Because of the dark and the speed they bring you up, it's barely noticible to people. The sequence with the false video clip ending is by far the best, everyone thinks its over and then BAM!.....one more semi-big drop!

Thanks for the link. Now I know there is noway I will be getting on that ride. The last time I went on it there was only 2 drops and you werent strapped in. But with that many drops there is no way I will get on there.

For me that would be a BIG YES ::yes::  :scared:

I remember the night after I first rode TOT. I could still feel myself falling when I lay down to sleep. Very creepy. But will I ride it again and again? ABSOLUTELY! There's no other ride like it!
