TOT Closing Date and Late Check-Out Event

I haven't been on the ride in a long time. The last few times I did ride it, the row behind me screamed so loud the whole time that it disrupted my ride. I am not talking the normal screaming, it was like deliberate, let's see how loud we can scream the entire time. I take it since so many people still seem to ride it, those were unusual events? It happened a few times in a row and I kind of gave up on it after that. I've had the same issue in POTC before, but only a couple times. I'm just thinking I might not go on the late check out version because it seems more likely to happen during that.

You should be able to tell the nearest Cast Member, especially the one manning the elevator (they should be aware of what those other guests did) about the experience and they will give you another ride.

Ok, I am afraid of heights. I can't even stand on a chair. LOL How much does the height affect the ride? Also, how jerky is it? I can't ride Indiana Jones because it physically hurts me. I'm just wondering if I should try this out one time before it closes.

Lorijohnhill, it's a smooth ride. You never see below you (you are seated and strapped into the lift) but they do open the window at the top. And you get a great view but you are in the building looking out from like 13 stories up. It's never bothered me but I don't have a height fear...just falling.

Now, about the falling...it's fast and you very much catch air. It's not jerky (or at least hasn't been for me). There are lots of up and down and they stop fairly quickly so there is pressure.

Give it a go. It's quiet an experience.

I have my issues with heights and I do not like Mickey's Wheel of Terror. I ride TOT because it's a favorite of my husbands, but honestly the waiting to ride is worse than riding for the most part. The ride itself is more fun than scary. I don't care for looking out at the park when the doors open though as that is when you really feel how high you are, and so I'm okay with the rumor from Micechat today that the new Marvel ride will not have the doors opening.

I may just suck it up and give it a try. Especially since I had finally let my daughter talk me into trying Splash Mountain and now it won't be open during our trip. :-)

I have a weird fear of heights-its not the heights so much as dangling from them or feeling exposed at a high height. For me I don't do Goofys sky school, something about it makes me feel none too happy. I also avoid the wheel of death at all costs and Ariel's Jumping Jellyfish.

TOT I can do and enjoy since my feet are firmly planted on a solid surface and it is only open in the front (not the sides or back).

Its worth a try since it's the last chance you'll have to ride the TOT.

Am I the only one who doesn't get it? Complete darkness...other than when the doors open, don't you fall in complete darkness right now? Maybe they're going to keep the doors closed the whole ride. But really, opening the doors and seeing how high you are always added to the fear for me.

I'm tempted to buy some Farewell Merch, but that's just giving Disney money for shutting down one of my top 2 rides. Buuuuuuut....I'll probably give in.

I was thinking the same thing-how dare they try to benefit from my misfortune...and yet they will because I know i'll let my very only sadness over the TOT's untimely demise line their pockets as I buy mementos

What?! That's the best part to me.

I'm afraid of heights too. They have an upper loading area and a lower loading area. As for the lower loading area. I've always been directed to the far right elevator. The upper elevators send you over industrial-looking catwalks where you can see below you. That freaks me out more than the ride itself! I also request the back corner on either side so that I can have a handle on one side and "fencing" on two sides, so I feel more secure.

I generally just close my eyes when they open the outside doors (they do this twice, taking the picture the second time, after the first drop). Every picture on the ride has me looking like I'm awaiting a firing squad, but I've survived and even learned to like the ride now that I don't go to the upper loading area.

The only time that's happened to us is when there are groups of teenagers. I've encountered it on HM, Indy, POTC. If that's what you encountered hang back if you start to get on an elevator with a group of teens. It would be awful to loose your last chance at this ride due to the potential behavior of other guests. (But I understand if you don't want to chance it, my Dad had trouble hearing out of one ear the rest of the day after the teen girl next to him screamed shrilly the ENTIRE Indy ride.)

I don't know if they'll take row requests, but you could also try asking to be seated in the back row. At least that way, no one should be screaming at you, although you might still have someone screaming next to you, but at least that takes care of one direction.

The ride is all about the height, not gonna lie. The windows open so you see all of Disneyland so there is no disguising the fact that you are high up in the air. I remember it being smooth as well, but the physical toll it takes is rough on my back. It compresses my spinal cord as it moves up and down very rapidly, I'm sore for a little bit afterwards but not long. It's very different from Indy.
