TOT 10 Miles of Awesome (maybe)

Well good news/bad news. I don't have a torn ligament but I do have a cyst in my heel/ankle area and that is what's causing the pain. The only real cure is surgery but since I want to avoid that I am going to try some orthopedic inserts he have me. I go back in a few weeks. Fingers crossed these work. I can not be off my feet

I'm not sure if this is a yay or not? If it is, yay! I mean, I guess at least it's not torn? That'd be a for sure off your feet, right?

If you got the surgery, how long would you have to be off your feet to heal afterwards?

I hope the inserts work! Is it just to reduce the pain, or is it hopefully to get rid of the cyst?

Honestly I'm not sure. I mean I'm glad I don't need a cast or anything but this seems like more of a band-aid solution. I think I will start doing yoga again and hope that helps as well. Right now the pain is keeping me up at night as well as preventing me running and all.

I hope things resolve.... :( No fun at all!!!

I wonder if just removing the cyst (even if it meant off your feet for a week or so) would still be faster recovery than everything else? At least then you'd know the problem is fixed and after that recovery time you won't be injured/hurting anymore.

I mean, if it's keeping you up at night that means it's affecting more than just your running/exercise.

Oh my....hoping the inserts do the trick! Not good! Sending you pixie dust and prayers!

I have been wearing the orthotics since Tuesday not sure if I feel better, but I don't feel worse, so that's a win I guess

Still haven't run any. Worried about injuring it further, plus I have been super busy with end-of-the-year stuff for the kids' schools.

Today was the annual Family Fun Day at our library that I am in charge of. I was on my feet all day and I am not in a lot of pain, so I am hoping I can start getting a couple miles in to start and see how I feel.

Boys finished school on Wednesday and I am already counting the days until they're back in! Lol. My gym has child care so I am hoping to get in a couple gym workouts a week once things settle down and I feel up to it.

Our exchange student heads home next Saturday, and while I am sad I am also kind of relieved. It's been hard juggling one more person in the house.

So "friend" drama continues (and here I thought I graduated high school years ago) but rising above it and keeping busy without that negativity in my life.

Hope everyone else is doing well and getting in some good miles before the temps spike. It looks like it'll be a hot summer.

So after feeling like bad news after bad news, I finally for some great news from my doctor. I went in last week for my normal bloodwork. My cholesterol has always been borderline (thanks heredity) but since I have been doing all this exercise and better eating it has dropped over 30 points and I am within a healthy range! I have a family history is heart disease and stroke so I am super psyched to get this news.

Now time to get in more exercise and get it even lower!

Yay for the last day of school!

Rise above the drama - it will always be there as some people can't seem to live without it.

Yay for good doctor news!

Hope you can start getting in more exercise soon now that the school year is over .

TOT training officially states today. I decided to do the "finish in an upright position" plan with my injury and all.

Today's plan was 30 minutes. Since it's been a while since I have been training I was pretty worried. I got up, got dressed and headed out. Kids both have camps today so I got to go solo.

Arrived at the park and my nerves kicked in. Kept telling myself "it's only 30 minutes". Decided to take it slow and kept my pace low.

Well, about ten minutes in I started cramping up. I told myself to ouch through and kept going. By the end I had run about 2 1/4 miles at a pace of 14:10. Not too bad after so much time off and taking it easy. I am fairly optimistic now. All in all , feeling pretty good

Thursday DH wants to run with me, so we'll see how that goes.

Ok, today's run was not as awesome as Tuesdays. Had DS10 with me. He's running a 10k with me next month so he has to train.

To start, it was HOT. I don't mean warm I mean 90*+ temps. We started off good. First mile was just over 14 (14:13 I think). Second mile, not do much it was at about 16 and it was our last. My knee was aching so I was ok with it though. Just forgot how awful the mornings are if you don't go out early!

3 miles on plan for Saturday.

LOL...send them back!

I hate drama and I tend to find myself in the mist of it all lots. One of the people that stirred up so much drama for me last year at ToT is following a lot of the same PTR as I am and today I was reading some of her post and watching her try to make herself into a CUPCAKE runner which she is NOT...but she is trying because she is out numbered and has "STEPPED IN IT" several times being her uppity running snob self!

Hope everyone else is doing well and getting in some good miles before the temps spike. It looks like it'll be a hot summer.

YAY for some good news!

I think that is a good plan...that was how my ToT ended up being!

While it does not seem great, the fact that you got out there and did it and not pushed yourself too far is a WIN!

Thursday DH wants to run with me, so we'll see how that goes.

So how did DH work for you?

Ok, today's run was not as awesome as Tuesdays. Had DS10 with me. He's running a 10k with me next month so he has to train.

Running with my DS is not a fun thing at all...I tend to be dragging him and I am the slow one...he is the lazy one!

To start, it was HOT. I don't mean warm I mean 90*+ temps. We started off good. First mile was just over 14 (14:13 I think). Second mile, not do much it was at about 16 and it was our last. Sending you pixie dust for your 3 miles today!

Got my miles in on the treadmill yesterday. It was too hot and the kids didn't want to cow with me, so treadmill it was.

Still feeling the pain in my leg. I think I may go back to the orthopedist and have him recheck it. It is better but still there, even when I'm resting.

This week my youngest son is going to my parents house for the week, so just me and the oldest son. His birthday party is Friday so we'll spend the week preparing. But big news is: we're having a Harry Potter night. DS just reread the first couple books and we're inviting our neighbor over for a Harry potter feast and watching the first movie. I am planning the menu but the funny thing is, there seem to be lots of Harry potter dessert recipes but not so many main courses! Lol. I think we're going to make:
Roasted Griffon (rotisserie chicken)
Dragon eggs (baked potatoes)
Professors Sprout's sprouts (broccoli or possible a salad)
Chocolate frogs (not sure if I'll make or buy these)
Every flavor beans (jelly belly)
Butterbeer (found several recipes got to narrow it down)

Probably a couple more things thrown in too lol

Hope the orthopedist can give you some answers for your pain thats still there.

That menu sounds good for a Harry Potter night!

Harry potter night is tonight. Been getting ready and running this morning. Feeling ok but haven't been sleeping well so running is a chore.

On a side note; have you ever had someone respond to your post on the Dis in a rude and condescending way? I was totally shocked. Plus the person had only a handful of posts and had joined a couple of months ago. I hope this is not the start of a trend. I don't need more of that in my life :(

Don't let people on a message board bother you. People tend to be more blunt or rude online as there is no person emotions involved in some ways.

Great job on getting back into training!

I have slacked SO much- didn't do anything on vacation and just have been slammed at work and it has sucked out my desire to do anything this week.

I keep telling myself, maybe tomorrow.. .and then... tomorrow is today and I don't feel like it! :rotfl2:

So, pictures of HP night? I did a HP bday party for my oldest when she turned 9. It was SO fun to plan and the girls STILL talk about it to this day- 3 years later.......

And just walk away from whatever message you got on the board . The good thing about forums is you don't have to deal with it if you don't want to- just walk away... and go to a better, more fun thread!

I didn't take any pictures last night but we made butterbeer again this afternoon while we watched Chamber if Secrets. They came out really tasty and have use great foam mustaches.

I am really hoping to stick to the training, but it's hard. Between the pain in my leg/ankle/foot and just finding the time with the kids home from
School it is sometimes difficult to get it in. Thank goodness for my treadmill. We also have a vacation smack in the middle so it may be derailed (of course I may be meeting up with Dis_Yoda so hopefully she'll remind me to get my butt in gear)
