I am planning on running (well, interval running/walking) the TOT this October. This will be my first Run Disney event with my family in tow. I have run the Princess half (2013) and the Glass Slipper Challenge (2014), but those have been girls' trips.

A little disappointed at the resort selection for this race, but really just excited to be able to share the event with my DS (11), who will be running the 5K with me that morning, and DS (6) who will be running in the kids races (DH will be there for moral support only, he's not a runner)

Hoping to finish around the 2 hour mark, but with the 5K happening that morning I may be closer to 2:20 :)

So far I have us all registered for our races and a stay tentatively booked at Saratoga Springs (DVC members).

Not sure if I am going in costume or not for the 10 miler but I am sure I'll have something for the 5K with DS.

Looking forward to hearing from fellow TOT runners, and also hoping to find someone/group of someones, to pal around with at the post race party since DH and DSs will be sleeping by that time

Joining in...I ran ToT last year and hoping to run PHM this year. Maybe we can swap run ideas.

I really enjoy princess. This year the half was rough because if the humidity but it is a good run. I ran on an injured Achilles so I had to take it easy but I still had an acceptable time.

Will you try for glass slipper or just PHM?

I ran with a recent stress fracture and my friend ran with several stress fractures in her foot...so I can understand the pain. I really am not into the time, with ToT being my first long distance run over 8 miles I was more concerned about finishing then my time.

I am hoping to do GSC as well as the 5K. It all depends on money at the moment and what my body is doing. I am a newbie into the running world and while I have the desire, motivation, and heart my body likes to tell me otherwise.

There is a link under my signature to my TR for ToT (A Few of My Favorite Things) you can search the index of the TR on page 1 and find my run report from the Expo, Prerace, Race, and Villain Party. If you would like to know more about what to expect for ToT.

Thanks I'll check it out!

Today was cross training, which kicked my butt after having over a week off recovering from my Achilles injury. Ok I COULD have done some upper body stuff in that time, but I admit I totally was feeling sorry for myself and didn't do a darn thing :(

So now it's time to hop back on the bandwagon and get some muscle tone and get some miles in.

Ultimately I would love to be 30 lbs down by TOT. Going a day at a time though and just trying to eat healthy and stay in shape.

I totally get not doing anything while not feeling well. (I mean last week I pretty much ate bar food, had lots of alcohol and went to the gym um not at all)

We have 6.5 months to train so letting yourself rest is fine plan wise.

I understand wanting to be 30lbs down! Add about 20 to that and you got my ultimate goal. Now with me, I'm also tracking body fat % as for the weeks I'm not losing weight at least I know I'm doing something.

I so understand about the pity party while you are injured. The heart, soul, and desire are motivated but the darn body likes to fight against you. So frustrating. Chin up! This too will pass and you will be back out there before you know it.

I am trying to get 50 pounds off in time for phm...I am about to reach my 20 pound mark...hoping by the end of the month. It is a struggle for an old lady like me. You are right, one day at a time...and it will all come together!

Yay for being down 20! I agree, the older we get the harder it is to lose. I am too old/wise to do those fad diets that used to drop weight like crazy but had unpleasant side effects. I was in WW for a while and lost about 30 and am keeping that off but really would love another 30 off. I stopped WW though because I honesty wasn't tracking well and could never make the meetings.

I had high hopes for a run this morning, but got back from dropping kids at school, sat down in my bed to check email and woke up two hours later! DH was in the shower and didn't even wake me when he came in to get dressed. I must have really been pooped! Going to treadmill a couple tonight to make up for it.

Started thinking about a costume today. I have run in electorate costumes before and really was not comfortable. I did find a cute villain hat at the Disney store and I may pair that with a Sparkle Skirt and maybe a Raw Threads top.

Thank you. I am doing carb cycling by Chris Powell. It really helps me stay in check and still once in awhile eat those things that other diets don't like you eating. I used to love WW but the older I got it just seemed like it would not work for me. I need to go just for the weekly meetings...living in a house of skinny people you don't get a lot of support!

Sometimes sleep is more important than a run. We are on spring break and I just took a nap! Now everyone is wondering where dinner is!

I love my sparkleskirts. Funny we all have been talking costumes all day on our PTR for PHM next year. And quite a few of my running fb groups all the talk is costumes!

It must be in the air!

I have a couple of choices I already own, I have these hats I found at the Disney Store

This is a costume I have in my closet, but I would probably only use the hat! I can't imagine running in the dress

I have a black linen Sparkle Skirt that is my work horse so I can pair it with whatever top I find.

That hat is awesome! I totally get not wanting to run in that dress though - I just imaging the chaffing.

I know, right? I bought it for $6, so I figured I could always use the hat and toss the dress.

At PHM I ran in a Raw Threads Rapunzel top and my Sparkle skirt. Not very original, but it was comfy and since it was so humid I was glad I wasn't wearing a big tutu or full headdress!

Hey guys!! My husband and I signed up for our first disney run!! tot 10 miler that is :) this is also out 2nd kidfree trip. I'm so glad someone started a thread because I haven't had anyone to talk to about it! My husband doesn't love to run but he's excited for a run disney event and the newbalance shoes, the planning fun though isn't his thing. We decided to stay at ASmusic although I've been considering switching to pop. We spend 0 time in the room anyways so IDKif it matters much. This has been a unique trip to plan for, I told myself my first 2 days we will take it easy until the run and after we can enjoy our trip the way we like, early up stay up late, eat a bunch of junk!

So I'm curious to know what your plans are for the days leading up to the run! Please share!

I love all the hats...and wondering if you could shorten that dress and take off the sleeves...? But my body hurts even thinking about the chaffing!

You could find a great rawthreads theme shirt to go with the hat!

Maybe I'll wear it for the 5k but I don't think I would survive 10 miles in it! Honesty I bought it for that head piece lol. Yay after-Halloween sales!

I head back to my physical therapist tomorrow for the all-clear to run. Right now I am on light jogs only (of course I told him my regular jog is probably everyone else's light jog). Still having some minor pain but hopefully it will pass once I get moving again!

I hope you get the news you want at PT. I had a love/hate relationship with mine...I loved the treatments with the laser and the ultrasounds, but I hated hearing no running yet...each ticking day was a day closer to ToT and I needed mileage!

Well good-ish news from the PT. My injury is definitely healing but I still need to go lightly.

He did a technique called "dry needling". I have had it done many times and it really works but ugh! It hurts! He inserts acupuncture needles into the muscle and hooks them up to some kind of pulse machine. Yes, it is as uncomfortable as it sounds and I will be sore all day but hopefully feeling better by tomorrow.

Interesting, but sounds :scared1:...but I would do anything to get healed faster!

Well, slight change of plan. I mentioned the race to my parents and they really want to join us. Not running but coming to Disney. So we may be moving to Old Key West instead since we can get a two bedroom unit there.

I am actually excited that they'll be there. That way I don't feel bad about leaving DH and the kids alone Saturday. DH really loves my folks too so it won't be a weird in-law situation (don't get me started on my in laws :crazy )
