Does anyone know of a store to purchase wine and/or beer in Tortola? We plan on bringing our limit of 2 bottles of wine and 6 beers (2 of us) onboard ship the first day but would like to pick up some more on our first port day in Tortola. So is there any stores within walking distance of the port in Tortola that we could get off the ship and walk to? Thanks in Advance :)

In fact, I think a sticky with this information at all of the port stops would be helpful!

If you can wait until St Thomas there is a liquor warehouse literally right across the street from the Havensight Mall, where you dock.

Thanks! We can definitely wait. I'm just trying to plan ahead since you can bring on 2 bottles of wine or 6 beers at each Port of Call. :)

You can buy it but they won't let you keep it. If you buy any at the ports of call , they take it when you get on the ship and you pick it up on disembarkation morning in the lobby before you leave

I thought the new rule was you could bring on the 2 bottles of wine or 6 bottles/cans of beer at each port.

Not true. You can bring onboard on embarkation day and in every port of call a maximum of 2 bottles of wine/champagne OR 6 beers per person aged 21 and over.

You can't, however, bring onboard spirits. If you purchase hard alcohol in port they will require you to turn it in and pick it up on debarkation morning to take home.

So has anyone had any luck finding a store in Tortola to find wine/beer?

Google says there is a TICO Wine and Spirits not far from the cruise dock.

I will also point out that if you stop in St. Thomas your duty free alcohol allowance back into the main US goes up substantially. Link.

Thank You! So let me just get this straight so since we are making a port stop at St. Thomas/St. John as part of the 7 day Eastern on the Disney Fantasy we are allowed to bring 5 liters of alcohol per person back with us to Florida? If this is the case do you list all of the bottles out on the customs form when returning at the end of the cruise?

Just trying to make sure we do everything correctly. Thank You!

As long as at least four liters were purchased in the insular possession (St Thomas), and at least one of them is a product of that insular possession (St Thomas).

This allows you to bring 1L purchased from Tortola or the on ship Duty Free shop in addition the the 4 allowance from St. Thomas.

I always get a receipt from where I purchase my liquor as proof of where I purchased it. On the back of the customs declaration form, it has a list for all items purchased. I usually put things into like categories: clothes, alcohol, souvenirs, etc. The border agent may ask the quantity of alcohol, at which point it tell how many and where from. They don't usually worry about it more than that.

Thank You! That really helps! Any recommendation on closest/best liquor store in St Thomas that is close to where the port is?

You're welcome. I've docked at both ports, but only used the Crown Bay area for liquor when we sailed on the Magic. I didn't even get off the ship when we were on the Fantasy last time and in the main Havensight port, so no clue there. I'm sure there are plenty there, but where to find the one with the best selection and value, check out the trip advisor or cruise critic sites. Chances are you'll be at Havensight.

Havensight at the cruise dock has several liquor stores. There are plenty to choose from but if you take a short walk across the street and up a block there is a KMart and they have some of the cheapest prices on liquor. Check Havensight then take a walk.

Here is the link to the Tico liquor store in Tortola. I believe you can preorder what you would like and schedule a time to pick it up in port. It does not appear to be far from the port. This is my plan while in Tortola next month.

It does say that the minimum order is $50 but I don't know if that is only for purchasing online beforehand.

Thanks! I plan on picking up a bottle in Tortula at Tico's and also maybe a 6 pack of beer and couple bottles of wine. I'll buy another 3 bottles or so in St Thomas since the limit is higher there. Just need to find the right place to go that is within walking distance of the Port.
