My husband is doing the scuba diving excursion while we are in Tortola.... I do not dive, so I'm looking for suggestions of things I can do on my own. Is it safe for me to walk around and shop on my own? Is this even an option around port? We've never been here so I have no idea what to expect. I have thought about making it a "sea day", but I would like to explore a little too. I'd love to go hang out at a beach, but doing that alone would be kind of boring ha ha

I didn't find very much to the town where the ship docks (Road Town). There are a few nice beaches on Tortolla, you could spend time on one of them if you like beaches.

The Virgin Gorda/Baths excursions are off-island, and are strongly recommended. They have nothing to do with scuba or snorkeling.

Tortola is safe but it's also small and boring. If you don't want to experience the legendary Baths, then I recommend taking a taxi to a simple beach like Cane Garden Bay, or just staying on the ship.

I think the Baths excursion is already booked up for my cruise :(

Tour to Virgin Gorda is the exact same excursion with a different name, & half day vs. whole day. Be sure to check for that as well. (The Baths are at Virgin Gorda.)

Yes! That one is still available! Looking at it now! Thank you!

I can recommend the Tour to Virgin Gorda as well. It's a fairly long boat ride to the tour, but it passes quickly. We had a great narrator.

We were just there a few weeks ago and there was a little shopping area. It could keep you busy for at most an hour. There is a bar right there that has wifi so you could grab a drink and catch up back home if needed.

We did the half day Tour to Virgin Gorda last April while on the Magic. The Baths were ok, but not something I would necessarily need to do again. Glad we did the half day tour and not the longer one. Most of the time on the tour is spent in transit. Spent maybe a little over an hour at the Baths which was enough time to hike down to the beach, go through the Baths and get back to the bus. I would recommend going back the same way you came in rather than hiking up from Devils Bay beach. This allowed us to go back through the baths a second time and was way less crowded as most people continued on the loop.

Yes, there was some time to swim or hang out on the beach on this tour. It was too rough for swimming when we were there and they had flags up warning against going in the water. We were however able to wade in the pools in the Baths and climb around on the rocks which was fun. Our time wasn't structured when we were there. They basically just said have at it and be back to the bus by a certain time.

we did the baths on our own. it was cheaper then booking through disney and just came back a little early so if there happened to be any problems, we had time to spare and more boats to bring back. I highly recommend the baths! it was fun and beautiful.
