When I asked if anyone had been to the Callwood Distillery on Tortola, I was asked for a trip report if I went. We did. At the port in Tortola, there are shuttle taxis that bring you to different parts of the island. We took the Cane Garden Bay shuttle for $6/person each way. It drops you off at a very beautiful beach. The driver asked what time we wanted to be picked up, and most everyone said 2:00pm. We asked the driver how to get to Callwood Distillery, and he said to continue walking on the road we were on, and it would be on the right. It is not far. We passed it because the sign for the distillery is not on the road. It is down a road/driveway. If you reach the Callwood bar or the steep hill you have gone too far!!! The distillery itself is in an old shack. The still is out back. The guy making the rum is really great to talk with. There were some other people from the cruise there when we went and they were not very happy with the distillery, but we thought it was great. Don't expect a fancy tour or any tastings, but we thought it was worth the trip. You won't spend much time there. Callwood is the last distillery on Tortola dating back to the 17th century. To get back to the ship, we went back to the beach, and found another taxi/shuttle back to the port. Our original driver was asleep in his taxi/shuttle. We had opportunites to take pictures of the island both ways on the taxi/shuttle.
