Tortilla Joe's

if you go to Tortilla Joe's, be aware that it is not texmex or "taco bell" type mexican food - it's more unusual like mango salsa, unique marinades, etc. If you are looking for basic tacos, refried beans, and spanish rice, you might be disappointed. DH and I liked our lunch there, but I do agree that the prices are a bit high. Then again, all the restaurants in DTD have higher prices. The margaritas are truly yummy :thumbsup2

I have eaten there twice and enjoyed it very much. It is not my first chioce when at DTD, but it's not my last either. Take a look at the menu and if you like the looks of it, then give it a try!

well i dont like mexican food except toco bell and from the few bad reports ive seen i wouldnbt risk this on our trip.

Does Taco Bell count as Mexican food? :) JK

I have heard that the takeout window is a great place to get food to share-huge portions and reasonable prices...

lol i dont like most anything else , so i guess i just dont like mexican food (im sorry but it looks gross. i hate gaquimoli, I dont like letice tomatos umm prety much any of that stuff)

Toco bell seems to have the only stuff i like.
79cent nochos and bean and chesse berito no onions no red sauce..and when they put extra of that on i call and complain..(i mean what if i were alergic)

I ate there in March. My group and I sat out on the patio and ate chicken fajitas...they were AWESOME! The service was normal, nothing special. We decided that the chicken was so good that the next day we decided to stop at the take-out window to bring food back to the room.
I was highly disapointed by the chicken tacos at the window, not at all what I expected, and it took forever for the food!

I would go again, but will go on the full service side rather than the take out window.

Haven't been in the main restuaraunt.. I have had the chicekn taco twice now at the taqueria window..mmmmmmmmmm.

First time the chicken was a bit dry but the flavors were very clean. (unlike the sauce laden swill they have at Rancho Zocalo .. bleh! Too much tomato for my tummy... I liked them before the most recent menu change..now, blehhhhhhh)

Second time I ordered a side of gauacomole to ease the dry chicken.. that time the chicken was moist and flavorful.

I like good simple food and this fit the bill.. at a nice price point too !
Best (and cheapest) meal I had the entire trip :thumbsup2 .

Lately, I have not been impressed with the food inside DL or DCA.
Plaza Inn chicken is very good, Begal BBQ skewers, Riverbelle Terrace for breakfast only, table service at Carnation Cafe is very good.

But most of the other places are just "ok" , in the past I loved the food but is it just me or in the last year or so it has all gone down hill?)

Extremely slow service at Pizza Port (please CMs teach guests how to use scramble service! There should not be a line snaking out the door!)

I had lukewarm soup at Pacific Wharf with ice cold broccoli.. tiny portion for the price.

I asked at Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill if they used the same sauce filled with tomato as Rancho.. she told me no ("it's just chicken"). It was the same exact thing.. ehhhhhhhhhh :headache:

Glad I'm becoming a local..now I can leave the park and eat a decent meal at a decent price!

I've been there twice. The first time was good, the second was awful food and service.

If you want that type of food, try the Rancho del Zocalo in Frontierland. It has much better food, we thought. You order food at a counter, but they do have tables and it's not strictly fast food.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Mexico is a large country with lots of styles of food, so what one region of the U.S. serves, another doesn't. So if you are used to or partial to Tex Mex, you will not get that at Tortilla Joes. The flavors/marinades are a bit different, which is why I love the food, but not everyone will. We have eaten there around four times over the years and never had a bad meal or bad service. We also like the takeout window and can say that unlike most places in DTD and the parks, its a great deal!

We ate there tonight mainly because the queues for seating looked shorter than any other sitdown. Very impressed by portion size, and food tasted fine to me. As a vegetarian, it was a nice change from pizza.

We really diddnt care for it. The service was okay, but the food was awful, and WAY to expensive for what you got. Granted it is Disney, so its bound to be more expensive... But $6. for 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream? Thats just crazy...
