I just got home and heard on the radio news that parts of Florida had some tornadoes hit today,,
anyone know anything about this ?

I heard about some buildings, etc. , being blown apart but no one hurt ?

Tornadoes are a very scary thing ,,our hearts and prayers go out to any Fort Friends of these boards that have to deal with this bad weather.

Yup, it was a rough day in central Florida. Tornadoes and winds and rain. We had damage scattered around in the bay area, I didn't hear about any deaths. I don't know how things went at FW. It is still raining a little in St. Pete, but it is mostly over now.

It was a very tense day, we kept watching the weather updates while at work not knowing when we would have to go to our "weather safe rooms" or what was happening at our childrens' schools.

A tractor trailer got blown over onto 2 cars while crossing the Howard Franklin Bridge, the news reports state no one was injured though.

Thanks for thinking of those of us in Florida.

One tornado hit the Sun 'n Fun fly-in at Lakeland. It damaged buildings, crushed/flipped dozens of airplanes and a tent that people took shelter under (think like a circus tent) collapsed, trapping 70 people. One of the fiends was there & quite scared, but only minor injuries.

Yup, the weather here sucks pretty bad. We have been here for 6 days and it has rained nearly all of them. Its a really long drive from Colorado to come here and hang out in the motor home. We should have stayed in the driveway...

Ed I'm so sorry that your vacation has been sidetracked by the weather!! Hopefully you've been able to get out between rain showers:)

I certainly pray that all the storms in Florida are gone now and that all are okay. I'm sorry that anyone would have to experience tornadoes.

Last week was beautiful, but this week was pretty wet all week. I'm glad I was not in my RV yesterday. There are still thousands of people without power here in Central Florida, but at least the next three days will be nice.

I think I would rather have been in a hurricane than what we went through Wednesday and Thursday. Fortunately, I was off from work those two days - but it was so dark, nearly dark as night, all day for two days, and the wind making the whole house creak (it didn't do that in any of the 2004/2005 hurricanes), and raining so hard you couldn't see out the windows if you wanted to. I kept going down to the basement to stay safe, and the weather radio alarm just kept going off, and going off, until it was enough to drive you out of your mind! We were spared the hail in our neighborhood, and I'm happy to say we didn't lose power (some people don't have power back on yet), but I hope we don't get anything like that again any time soon.

I talked to some folk who passed thru here today (TN) they just came from Oralndo area, said there thousands without electrc for a pretty good while.
