Tornado Warning through south Disney headed towards Universal on 11/25 (now over)

I would guess MK would be the safest park in a tornado,I know guests can't go in the utilidors but if a tornado came through I would be looking for doors to go under.

During training as a MK Cast Member we were taught to evacuate everyone from the park into the utilidors for a tornado. There is even an area down there with storm supplies for the park (not food - more like boards, sand bags, that kind of stuff).

EPCOT also has some underground tunnels underneath the Future World area of the park, connecting various buildings. They are not as extensive as the Ultidors of course.

*This* is one reason why I *do not* fly anymore - would rather drive and actually sometimes it's quicker - by the time you get there early, park, etc. then finally getting to your destination on the other end - definitely less stressful for me.

The last flight I took was very similar to this one and I said *no more* unless extreme emergency. Dh agrees - with his work had to fly to Japan 18 times - had a few bad flights, plus one scary maintenance one.

We drive, take our time, or don't plan to go. Safer to fly? Yes, I've heard it all, but it won't change our minds - our *journey* is a lot of our enjoyment. :goodvibes

i would love to drive, unfortunately, we have to cross the atlantic to get to disney, so, alas, driving is out of the question....
we tend to fly to orlando via JFK in new york (or via somewhere, there are no direct flights for us - wish there were....the US leg of the trip is always the worst even though it's the shortest leg)..

when DD and her husband finally got home last night after traveling for 27 hours (to orlando airport, flight, waiting in new york, next flight, drive home), they said that WDW is the happiest place on earth but getting there and back is worse than torture...

i told them we'll go by ship next time! :)
a disney transatlantic in one direction and cunard going the other way....well, i can dream! ;)

(and having nothing to do with tornadoes....
adding to that whole flying experience, they encountered a rat in JFK while waiting for their next flight!!....
pretty much the worst day all around)

I believe Disney's official line is that the gift shops provide the best shelter from extreme weather and that a credit card-linked magic band can provide additional protection from lightning.

then once in the air, they hit the turbulence of the century..
such bad turbulence that many people were screaming (including DD) and many others upchucking (including her husband)..

Scary. Next you go on Mission Space you will be like... ho hmmm.. not too scary. :) I was on a plane one time taking off from Reno and the pilot said coming down from Seattle they were hanging on for dear life. :crazy2: Not a fun flight. Glad those Boeing engineers know how to build a solid plane.

funny about mission space!!!

we missed our landing one time into las vegas....
we were almost down to the runway when the pilot suddenly accelerated and went around to try again...
he said he came in too high....
hmmm....las vegas is a strip in the middle of a dessert....
how difficult could that be to come in at the right angle?
but that was america west....
actually, as i walked past the cockpit on the way off the plane, i said very loudly, "i guess they fly better drunk"...
i should add this was right after an america west pilot was arrested for flying drunk

suffice to say, i wish we could road trip it.....no way would i ever fly!!!!
