There is a breaking news story on right now about tornados and thunderstorms in Lake County, FL which is just north of Orlando. One person has been confirmed dead and there are feared to be several more.

Hope everyone visiting Disney right now is safe and sound.

We had heavy rain, thunder and lightning starting about 5am this morning in the WDW area. No damage reported in this area at this time. Additional storms are moving along a line to the north and east, but it looks like the worst is over in our area. Folks to the south and east are still under the gun.

We're just finding out about all this. We had some fierce rain during the night, but that's all we heard. We're getting information from our radio station that some areas of The Villages received major damage. We're still trying to get a handle on the situation.

OH Dear.

Thisi s where my father lives. I may actually have to call.

Could you please keep us updated there George? My SIL has an Aunt & Uncle that live there and she is coming down next week.
Thanks!
Scott:)

Just talked to Mom-they live in the Spanish Springs section of The Villages and while the storm was "intense", they are fine. My aunt and uncle live over near the Polo grounds and they are ok as well.

Saying prayers for all who live there and all who have loved ones in that area.

We're OK here in south Lake (Clermont), hope all others are well!

Virgo, check in!

I live in south Lake county near the four corners area and everything is ok here. I woke up to the sound of heavy rain overnight but there wasn't any damage in my area from what I could see this morning on my way to work.

Everything is fine here. Around 7 we had one heck of a storm moved through. It didn't last long but holy cow. It was raining so hard I couldn't see the grove right across the street. They haven't picked the grapefruit yet and now much of the crop is on the ground. :(

So no problems here but I've very sad for those folks who were in the line of fire. I HATE it when these storms hit at night!

Just talked to my sister - she lives in Lady Lake and she's fine..

My son-in-law talked to his boss - who is in the Villages - and he's fine too..

Still trying to contact one friend up in the Villages..

these are the local news affiliates that will have all the weather details.

There was heavy damage in Lake county which is west as well as north of Orlando. We got a lot of heavy rain here in Orange county but for the most part the storms hit Lake skipped above Orange county and then slammed Volusia county as well.
There are people in DeLand that are just wandering around in shock as many homes were completley leveled. 18 wheeler semi's were tossed around I 4 near SR44 like toys.

So far there are more than 50,000 people without power and 14 dead in Lake county.

I had no idea until my sister called from Deltona this morning to let me know she's okay. Those photos are awful, Aidensmom.

I'm getting a lot of phone calls this morning. Everything was way to the north of us.

We're in Lake County and we're OK. Watching the news, lots of damage, it's terrible & so sad. Looks like there are going to be many deaths. :sad1: :sad2:

My grandparents live in Spanish Springs in The Villages. They aren't answering their cell phone and the reg. phone lines are down. I am beginning to freak out, to say the least.

The devastation is terrible in the affected area. CNN and Fox have ongoing coverage.

There's a Disser that lives in Vero Beach. Hope she checks in.

CNN reporting 14 fatalities so far.

My DD lives in Pensacola/Perdido Key.

The photo's on MSNBC are devastating.. :( I'm so glad that my sister doesn't have power right now - the shock of seeing what her town looks like would be unbearable.. I don't think she has any idea just how bad her area was hit..

I don't think I've ever been so grateful to God in my entire life.. He kept my sister safe.. The loss of life is going to be horrible.. :(

North end of Clemont, south Lake County here, and what a night. The weather radio woke me up no less than ten times, and it was all about tornado's.

Around 4:30 we had a thunder clap that literally shook the house so badly that it knocked two photo frames sitting on tables/shelves over!

I had just gotten back to sleep and around 5:00 am DH called me and told me to get in the closet because he was watching Headline News up in NJ and they had zero'd in on Clermont as having tornado activity. I told him to leave me alone and went back to sleep. :rotfl:

It actually seemed to subside and move out pretty quickly after that.

The devastation they are showing on the news reports is terrible. They are saying that the tonado's that hit were F-3, which is equivelant to a CAT-5 hurricane--think Andrew over Homestead.

The EBS is still broadcasting over the radio for warnings over Volusia county. :guilty: :sad2:
