Is anyone seeing these photos on the Weather Channel? It looks like they took one heck of a beating!! :(

Do we have any DISer's from that area? If so, I hope they - and their homes - have been spared..:sad2:

I posted a thread on this last night. My apartment is located in Kirksville (as is the university I attended) and I just completed my student teaching in Novinger- the two hardest hit areas. Thankfully I am out of town at the moment as I literally have nowhere to go during a tornado.

Our area was very hard hit. They are talking about lack of power to parts of Novinger and Kirksville for up to two weeks. I know Novinger schools were closed today, no word if they are open tomorrow. There were three people killed, all in mobile homes. The initial report states that there were four tornadoes that touched down in that area. I go back next week to start packing up my apartment in preparation for my move. It will be interesting to see what is going on.

This is not an economically good area. Novinger is incredibly rural, the town has about 534 people in all, the only paved road in town is the road the school is on. Kirksville is not much better off in many ways. I have a feeling that it's going to be very hard economically on those who have lost or had damage to their houses. Please keep the victims, their families, and the town in your prayers.

That is incredibly sad - and I will definitely keep those people in my prayers..:(
Do you know if your apartment was damaged? It must be very scary - looking at those photos and not knowing what you are going to be walking into when you return there.. I hope your losses are at a minimum - if any at all..

I called the manager last night and she said our complex didn't even have wind damage. I was worried because we are right between two of the reported tornadoes, but it sounds like we lucked out.

Oh - thank goodness for that.. Still - I'm sure it's going to be hard for you to go back there and see all of that.. :( I hope things go as smoothly as possible for you..
