Torn and Confused

We have reservations currently for the BC, but I have read some negative things about the BC lately having to do with the maintenance (painting and worn carpet). I want this vacation to be the best, of course, and spending that kind of money on a hotel room I want to be happy. I honestly am torn on where to stay. I do know we would like to stay in the Epcot area for the convenience. I am now thinking maybe I should change my reservation to the Boardwalk or maybe the Swan and Dolphin. However, our travel agent suggested staying at AKL (I think it is too far off the beating path, as I do want to have to wait around for a bus, etc.) :confused3

Any thoughts, suggestions, recommendation? My DS will be 9 and the other DS will be 7 when we visit next November.

Have never stayed at the Beach Club. We stayed twice at both the Boardwalk and the Yacht Club. Both are excellent resorts but I kind of like the Boardwalk better. It's a much smaller resort and the boardwalk area is a lot of fun.
If you plan on a lot of Epcot and Disney Studios this is the area you want. You can walk or boat to either. There are a lot of great restaurants in the Epcot resort area also.

IMO, having only stayed at the YC, but toured around the BC (and staying at the BC this coming January) I wouldn't worry about worn carpet and so forth...for every negative, there are TONS of positives. Also I thought Storm Along Bay was simply amazing for kids. I wasn't that impressed with the Boardwalk pool, although kids seemed to be having fun when we went to check it out.

If you chose BC originally because you thought that was where your heart led you, I would stick with that and not second guess. The ambience is lovely, the pool is wonderful, the location is the best! My take (having stayed several times on property in values, moderates, and deluxes) is that if you expect to see problems, you'll find them ANYwhere on property. But if you go expecting lots of fun and beautiful surroundings, then some worn carpet or other issues become minor. It's all in how you look at it.

Hope you have a super time!

I would keep my reservation. We stayed at BC in 2003, and loved it!! I know how you feel. You can drive yourself crazy reading all of the reviews. I stayed at the Dolphin in 2004 and wasn't thrilled with it so it is all a matter of personal opinion. Go and enjoy yourself and try not to sweat the small stuff- from one "sweater" to another....

Harvey -- I understand what you're saying and you mentioned that the kids were having fun -- just wanted to be sure that the OP doesn't get the wrong impression.. The Boardwalk pool is (at least was) extremely well heated (if you're going anytime soon) and our kids *loved* the slide. Storm Along Bay is usually voted #1, however.

I believe all of the Epcot resorts are 15ish years old now. We did notice some warn carpet at the Boardwalk, but overall I would give it an "A". If we stay again at an Epcot resort, we'll likely choose the Boardwalk for the convenience and fun. Since we've never stayed over at BC/YC however, we would be tempted to tryit out. If nothing else, for Storm Along Bay.

Honestly... Keep your reservations. The things you're citing are small things that you probably won't even notice. We've stayed at BC 2x and BCV 1x and loved every single moment of it. The place is just gorgeous. We had great rooms, great service, and you can't beat the location.

With the ages of your kids, they'll really like SAB. It's by far the best pool around.

Thanks for all the positive remarks! I do believe you made my mind up :cool1: You are right, if I look for negative I will find negative. I need to stop reading so many reviews.

I am a new comer to the forum...........I just love it!
