Torchwood Series 1 Discussion Thread

Pararell worlds and also Episodes??? Then jack is in the last of next years DW?

Does this mean Jack has to call the Doctor to help him???

First off, thanks for the insider; I had no idea that was the Doctor's Hand while I took the tour around Torchwood from the Torchwood Webby. I think a crossover/parrell world stuff is bound to happen; if Torchwood can do it once I am sure someone could try it again and so the Doctor surely HAS to help..

I read up today that Torchwood is going to premire in Cardiff; how sweet that they go back to where they filmed it..

Not long to wait now :)

Thanks for all the interesting pre programme info!!! :thumbsup2 Going to miss 3weeks when we're on holiday though!!! Ah well! :teeth:

Oooo, not long now guys. Heard some feedback from the screenings on the radio this morning, sounds very exciting. A crossover would be cool, and wouldn't surprise me.

We are recording it in HD on Sunday night and will set the series link next week :thumbsup2, looking forward to it and Ds is keen to see the next series of Dr Who too....

RTD did say on Radio one tonight, no crossovers, references yes but no crossovers! But Cptn Jack is still said to be in the last DW of 2007.

Also Spiders, a spiderwoman Sarah Parish in DW at Christmas she is the baddy against Doctor and 'are you bothered???' Christine Tate, I read a post someone said they thought she was his wife, coming back to get the Doctor, he did say he had a kid! Explains why Rose wanted to go!!!

If you check the Torchwood Webby they have a short behind the scenes thingy, despite the fact it's not out yet. :)

Everyone looking forward to tonight ~ I've Sky+ it for DH :)

OKAY :furious: When I asked DH what time it was on I assumed he'd looked on Sky not taken the word of SFX magazine. So I turned on qtr way through the 2nd episode and decided not to watch!

Is this repeated please?

Jo

I think they are repeated tonight at 1.00 am and 2.40 am ,BBC 3, get the tape ready or sky+ if you have it :thumbsup2

It will be repeated on BBC2 wednesday I think.

The writing is up to expectations - it is a great show so far!

Thanks guys:)

I didn't realise I'd missed anything to start with as the episode in the club toilet with the exploding man might well have been a pre-trailer set up - It got my attention! It was only when the main characters started discussing it that we thought we weren't quite in on the whole story. :confused3

Hopefully it was recorded overnight but if DH didn't manage that I'd catch it Wednesday (shouldn't be so harsh as he has the flu lurgy thing at the moment and was really disappointed he'd missed it!

Thoughts anyone? :)

I thought that was cool; did have to cover my sister's eyes a lot during part 2.. :lmao: I think it's great so far; my brother on the other hand doesn't.. What does he know? ;)

Not sure as yet. Had a little trouble understanding the first episode and put off watching most of the second till Wednesday. Mind you, not understanding things is usual with me!!! I also missed the more 'happy' Capt Jack of Dr. Who, but that may come through later as we get to know the characters. Perhaps he doesn't like not being able to die. :confused3

All in all, a little like a serious Men in Black with a bit of the Matrix and Highlander thrown in.

OH and I sat and watched it, Brilliant, really looking forward to the rest. Think I better not let him know what I really think of Captain Jack, he might stop me watching.

...and don't forget Captain Scarlet (there's a definate facial resemblance as well :lmao: ).

I enjoyed it a lot, nearly enough to turn me to dust ( joke) I liked all of it, you had to work out the connections with Doctor who, they were there but you had to think about it, like the Doctors cut off hand, Cpt Jack making a priority of that, not telling anyone why, and saying he needed a doctor to find out why we cannot die.

The only bit I found I didnt like was the regualr sightseeing trips around Cardiff, I know RTD is proud of Cardiff, but at times I felt like I was watching the Holiday programme on Wales not Torchwood.

Did a first episode ''Spooks'', didnt they, making you think the team is all together , just as you think you have been introduced and understand the team, one leading actress is killed off.

The opening episodes of Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood drew the largest digital channel audience for a non-sport programme, says the BBC.
The 2100 BST episode had 2.4 million viewers and a 12.7% audience share, the 2145 BST one had 2.3 million (13.8%).

The first two instalments of the series, starring John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness, also attracted BBC Three's largest ever audience.
