I've been to the Topsfield Fair several times. It's turned into a tradition for my College friends to meet there each year.
It's an old fashioned agricultural Fair and the set-up doesn't change much from year to year. The Topsfield Fair is probably best known for the Giant Pumpkin Weighoff the first weekend. The winner remains on display along with other heavyweight pumpkins. The Fair also hosts the Mrs. Essex County Pageant.
Within other buildings you will see displays of winning vegetables, fruits, flowers, handcrafts, cooking and animals. The bee house displays hives, candlemaking and you can buy fresh honey products from local Essex County beekeepers. Students from Essex "Aggie" and Scout Troops present their wares. Horse and livestock shows are presented daily as well as concerts. Don't miss Robinson's Racing Pigs, with daily shows.
There's a midway area with games, rides and plenty of food. The hot apple crisp, fried chicken, fried dough and fudge are my favorites.
Topsfield isn't WDW but it's good old fashioned fun.
