We were at Sandestin this weekend, and I ventured over to Topsail Hill to check out the campground. I had heard that it is very nice, but I was surprised by how nice it really is. It is the first campground that I have seen that reminds me of the Fort. The sites are very Fort-esque. The cabins and bungalows look very nice too. I was shocked to see a $42 full hook up rate for all year long.

I am sure this is old news for a lot of you camping vets, but I thought I would pass it along. FWIW, the attendant said that starting in April reservations are tough to get. They were about 30% full this weekend.

BTW Frank, they have plenty of fishing ponds. :thumbsup2

I have reservations for July 4! I had to book them a year out! It would be great place for a Grand Gathering! They also have a pool and transportation to and from the beach.

Seen some pictures of it...looks beautiful.
Just curious :confused3 ...is it that booked up during the summer months as well? ...other than the 4th of July of course.

It is very difficult to get in there in the summer. You might get lucky and get in there. Here is a link to there Reservation system.

I also tried to get into Henderson for the 4th of July a year out and it was booked. Kinda reminds me of FW! The BIG difference is the PRICE!

Everyone on RV.Net talks about Topsail and how nice it is. I understand it is very hard to get into all year. I would love to go up there, probably is a 8 hr trip for us, but would be willing to go for a GG.

Topsail is a beautiful campground, especially the 100's loop. But, it wasn't for us. We are just not beach people. (Don't ask me why we went to Topsail if we don't like the beach. :confused3) But for people who enjoy the beach it's a very nice place. I understand why it has its own cult. Plus, for everyone like me, that leaves an opening for someone that loves the place.

This family LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVES Topsail. It's the vacation I look forward to the most every single year. We are going May 1-9, for our anniversary, as we've done for the past 4 years. This will be the last time we can go at this time of year since DD starts kindergarten in August. We booked it 3 weeks ago, and it was difficult to get a full week there in the same spot (we will move 2 nights into our trip, down 2 campsites). Our favorite is the horseshoe loop - DH's fave site is 89.

It can vouch for the fact that it's hard to get into during the summer months. If you don't book it 10-11 months in advance, you can pretty much forget it.

Year after year, we always say that we're going to give up our "usual haunts" (the same places we go every single year) and broaden our horizons...try something new, but I can tell you that this family will NEVER give up Topsail as a vacation destination. I have the 30-A sticker on the back of my Highlander to prove it! :)

Just don't take the sites next to the check in building if you have children. The traffic in and out of the campground can be dangerous and it is a looong walk to the beach from there.

We stayed in the site right next to the pool sidewalk (I think it's number 22) the very first time we went there in 2003, before our daughter came along. I wouldn't stay there now. I do like the sites in the upper part of the circle there, 10-12, but would not stay there unless they were the ONLY sites left. :)

campingdawgs - you and I are practically neighbors! acworth/dallas. that's kinda cool.

We really liked the campground itself, but I was so nervous about letting my youngest DD (age 4 at the time) play outside the camper because of the traffic. We were close to the pool though, and my kids learned to play shuffleboard since the courts were right across from us.

Stinkerbell (haha, this is what we call DD6), we are not far from you at all! My sister lives in Dallas, so we are in that part of town fairly often.
