Topping Bars to be Removed?

I've heard Disney is changing the topping bars, removing the lettuce, tomato, and other vegetables.

Is that true?

I think the cheese sauce has already been removed. I believe you can ask for it at the counter.

Well, you can PAY for it at the cashier - it's not free even if you ask for it. I haven't heard anything about the toppings bars except that now-gone cheese sauce. As of last week they were all there.

Has anyone checked at the Electric Umbrella, specifically? According to the Unofficial Guide's website, as of 3/31 the sandwiches come with shredded lettuce and tomato already on them, and the topping bar just has sauces.

Is it true, and if so, are they planning to do that at all the other CS locations?

I hope that they dont get rid of the sauteed mushrooms and onions .....those are what makes the hamburgers so good

It wouldn't surprise me if they did get rid of them at Electric Umbrella. They already got rid of them a few years ago at Backlot Express (MGM).

The did take them out at Electric Umbrella, and installed a self-serve beverage aisle in it's place. Condiments are in pumps now.

I'm sure this has something to do with it. I saw an older couple at the WL in Feb making a salad out of the toppings bar. They just took their fries and burger out of the basket and made a big salad. We have witnessed this behavior many times throughout the "world", so figured it was a matter of time. Yes, no fixings bar at backlot, guess restraurantasaurous will be next? I like the fixings bars too. too bad.

I have a solution. They should install a 'topping bar pass' type of thing. If you want to get into the topping bar, you have to pay a small fee. Then, they'll give you a pass that you put into a fastpass-like machine. That way, people could still have toppings. They can also make salads and stuff out of the topping bar, but they have to pay for it, so it isn't like stealing.

That's too bad! DW and I will miss the topping bars...and probably won't be ordering burgers at any WDW restaurant without one. Being able to put your own toppings on it makes a basic burger much better, IMO.

It may have been food going to waste as well. All the toppings are just sitting there, and have to be replenished if they turn brown etc., now they know how much to give out per person. I don't think free refills on beverages are a bad thing. I much rather have extra drinks than extra lettuce, especially when it's hot.

Does anyone have any solid evidence of this? OP only asked a question, and didn't state any facts for this.

About the cheese sauce, there was a thread a couple weeks ago about the dispenser being removed from a restaurant (can't remember which), but I know that the cheese was up and running at Caseys 2 weeks ago.

I'm thinking the best place to find the truth on this one is the Budget Board
