We will be staying at the Boardwalk early June and my wife and I are trying to plan some adult dinners. We have never eaten at Topolinos before. How difficult is it to sit and eat in the lounge area without a reservation? Is the environment good for eating? To be clear, we often eat in the bar areas at home and generally find the atmosphere better than a table in the restaurant.

DH and I love eating on the lounge at Topolino’s. They have a few 2 tops and the bar area is open for seating as well. There are a few booths as well I believe our server told us we’re “bar” area also. The later it gets, the harder it is to get a seat because of the fireworks. Just tell the host/hostess you want to go the bar and they will let you right through.

We arrived early for a dinner reservation (res was 6:20 and we were there before then) and sat in the bar area and ordered a drink and appetizer. It was a very nice lounge area and we would have enjoyed eating dinner there, as a number of guests were doing. While we were there, it did fill up and there were several folks waiting for our table when we left. I don’t think there was a waiting list by then, so it continued to be first to sit down. If you go early, you can get a seat. If you want to arrive later, you will probably have to wait.

As others have noted, YMMV based on the date you are going and time of arrival. We went on Mother's Day last year and had a table reserved, but sat at the bar and had a drink while we waited. It felt quite lively and you can certainly order from the menu there. Just my opinion - I much preferred having dinner at a table in the dining area. It felt much less crowded and the service was wonderful (service was great at the bar, too, just felt a little chaotic). If you know the date you want to go, you may want to consider making an ADR (but you may enjoy the livelier atmosphere of the lounge!). We also timed it so we were done with dinner about 30 minutes before the EP fireworks and boarded the Skyliner back to the EP area just as they started - great view!

We went there first waiting for our table, and then spent a few minutes outside. It is a bar, some hi tops and communal high top. You can see fireworks out that window but by the the area was quite busy. I wouldn't say it had any real atmosphere.

We did love our "dinner" in the dining room, excellent service, excellent food. We didn't order a meal but filled our table with appetizers and then desserts and shared.
