Hello! Did I read somewhere that TOTWL is now open to all DVC members staying on property or did I imagine that? ;) Thanks! :thumbsup2

Are there any food options there or just drinks? Maybe appetizers?

Glad to hear it is still open, to all of us, I thought they said at one point it was a limited time thing.. Can't wait to visit on our monorail tour night, love it up there...

It was even raining, well misty/spitting rain last September and we still stayed and enjoyed it awhile!

From DVCMember.com under 'Destinations' (drop down) > 'Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort':
Disney Vacation Club Members staying at any Disney-owned-and-operated hotel at Walt Disney World Resort (whether they booked with vacation points or cash) may enjoy access to one of the vacation kingdom's most exclusive spaces: the Top of the World Lounge atop Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort through December 29, 2013 (blockout dates in 2013 are July 3 and 4, and December 30 and 31). Current operating hours are 6 p.m. to midnight.

This perk is available exclusively to Members and those in their traveling party who are staying on that Member's reservation. At least one Member in the traveling party must accompany the group and present his or her current Key to the World card displaying a Disney Vacation Club Membership notation in order to gain admission to the lounge. If the Member's Key to the World card doesn't display a Membership notation, a Disney Vacation Club Member ID is required in addition to the Key to the World card to verify Membership.

Note that Members traveling from other Resorts must use Walt Disney World Transportation, as parking is unavailable to anyone not staying at Bay Lake Tower or Disney's Contemporary Resort. Upon arrival, Members must walk to the Bay Lake Tower main lobby entrance on the ground floor and check in at the Top of the World Lounge desk in the lobby.

This special Top of the World Lounge access is available on a first-come, first-served basis until the lounge reaches capacity. As the lounge is particularly popular during the Magic Kingdom fireworks, arriving as early as possible will give Members the best chance of gaining admission.

Thanks for that info. I hope they extend this into next year, plan on taking our adult kids to celebrate our anniversary. :cool1:

Hoping to go up there in a few weeks. I've heard that it opens at 6:00 now, used to be 5:00, but it changed. And, not surprisingly, very few people are there until about 1-1 1/2 hours before Wishes. I'm still not sure how to get there-last time I was at BLT, the doors were kept locked. Hopefully, now, you can get into the lobby at least.

When I was there in February, you had to tell someone in the main lobby that you wanted to go up to lounge. They check membership and then walk you over to the elevator. Another BLT staff member activates the elevator for you. BF and I were staying at BLT and it would be a little annoying to go to the first floor just to go up again, but we understood why.

They're a little more relaxed when it's not nearing Wishes time, but they were still... politely insistent on checking KTTW cards.

Make sure you have your DVC member card! We were issued Magic bands and were told thats all we needed. When we checked in at the desk a rather surley man was very curt in demanding to see our DVC member card, even though all of our information, including the fact that we were members staying on points were incripted into our bands. Not a great way to start an evening......:confused3

The reason being is sometimes other staying on DVC points are not in fact members. Unless the member informs ms that someone is a guest or renter it might indicate ownership when that's not the case.

I'd rather they ask for the card for member perks, to be honest as that is how they remain member perks. JMO.

When we checked in we were given bands, and told thats all we needed, all of our info would be in the band. I know the bands are still in a testing phase, but this is going to be a problem IMO. If I have a band, I put my wallet in the safe and go on my way. I dont expect to have to carry my member card with me if all of my info is on the band.

Yes but TOWL is for your guest staying on points and they will not have a member card. So your family would be denied access. We had three 2BRs booked during our stay at BLT in June. It would have been a pain for DH and I to always be present for any of the family that wanted to go up.

You need to carry your member ID card and a photo id to get any member discounts. When your MagicBand is scanned for purchases there is no indication on the POS that you are a DVC member and no discounts are automatically applied.

Only if they at staying at BLT. Those staying at other resorts are not entitled to use the lounge unless they are members. But still, while it might be inconvenient for the member, I think a member card should be required for perks. Now, TOTWL might be different for those staying with the members at BLT as there is no discount so e accepting the KTTW card may be enough.

You probably need your ID (like state issued DL) in case there is a problem wiht your admission, purchasing something at a store, etc. So carry the wallet or get your wife to carry it.

Forgive my confusion, but if I am renting points and staying at BLT, can we access the Top of the World if the member we are renting from is not present or at the property? Thanks.

Sorry, but no. Only members of DVC and guests with that member can access TOTWL.
