Top of the World Lounge

anyone can go up for a drink or dinner

Blackrock

Blackrock, is that a statement or question?

I am sure that "anyone" can't go up to the TOWTL but we are not sure about whether DVC members guests can or whether a DVC member can when not staying on property.

There is a special elevator that goes up to this lounge and you have to have a CM take you in the elevator (this is not a normal elevator where you just puch the button, I believe it has a key)

I had no problem getting up to the lounge when I rented points at BLT. The only way Disney knows that you are a renter is if your "landlord" calls and informs them of that. Very few renters bother. I've rented three times and each time my KTTW card said DVC member. That is the same thing it says when I use my own points. (We are members but sometimes still rent when we're short on points.)

The KTTW no longer says DVC Member. It may just say DVC room on the back of the card. You'll need a blue member card to get DVC perks now.

No, not anyone can go up for a drink or dinner. They don't serve dinner, just appetizers, for one. Two, like CMBAR said, a CM must escort you up to the lounge.

ah, well I guess that wouldn't work then, lol. Regardless, if they do do away with the DVC BLT Guest exclusivity thing, I hope they manage to come up with some way to keep its status as a perk for those of us that bought in with that expectation.

I believe the contract specifically states that TOWL is not part of the timeshare. So there is no exclusivety guaranteed or even that it will remain open to members.

Since when did they stop putting DVC on KTTW cards? I was there in March and it said it on the card. Thats what I used to get upstairs.

Our cards from June at AKV, Jambo House, Kidani Village and VWL all said DVC Room Only on the front of the card. Don't know what that means. Do cash reservations have a different remark? If cash reservations have a different remark wouldn't the DVC Room Only remark work?

We just left BLT a few days ago and our keys also said "DVC Room Only" on them. But something occurred to me today...room keys don't specify the resort. So feasibly, anyone staying on a DVC points reservation who manages to get in the building could show their card and get up to the lounge? Not trying to suggest or encourage it, just saying it seems like it could be done. Perhaps this is what some others have been referring to? :confused3

I think that the ID number first 4 digits specify the resort.

All you need to get up to the lounge is your KTTW card, you do not need your blue member card.

The CM's at SAB said something like this. The code indicates which resort you are staying at. Maybe there's something in the code that indicates DVC now.

It depends which CM is checking the ID's. We have had to show our blue card once and once we had to have a KTTW card for each person in our party.

If they asked for your blue card it was done in error. It is not required to have that card to enter the lounge. All the information they need is on your KTTW.

With the new Lilo software, I don't know if that's 100% true anymore. Since the start of the conversion, I have had KTTW cards with DVC not printed on them anywhere. They used to have "DVC Member" on them. Two weeks ago they were printed with "DVC Room Only" and DVC Multiple".

My recommendation is that members carry your blue card just in case, it can't hurt. :goodvibes

You are correct that it does not hurt to carry your card.

We always carry our card when visiting.

First, there are occasionally DVC discounts at stores/restaurants. For these, we've always been asked for our DVC card. The CMs have told us a KTTW card is not sufficient because the discounts are only for DVC members not their guests.
Second, mistakes sometimes happen. For example, people have been charged for the free internet. To get the charge removed, the reports are to go to the front desk and show your member card.

Not to be nosy, but what do you think was the difference in this? Did you do dining or something? I can decipher "DVC Room Only" but I'm having trouble cracking "DVC Multiple."

Thanks.

we rented points for a room on Monday and the KTTW card didn't have any designation on it for DVC, just 1A 1 C room only

Thye always used to say DVC member but we would be required to show DVC member card to valet park free or get discounts.

New changes.
