Top of the World Lounge

I believe your KTTW card will need to say "Disney Vacation Club Member", unless the rules have changed in the past year. If the DVC member is staying with you, then the KTTW card should have this. If you are renting, then it won't.

I think it really depends. There have been reports in the past few months where people said that they were asked to show their blue member card.

When we were there, we were only asked to show our KTTW card that said DVC on it (we are members).

I think it depends on the cast member letting people up.

We only had to show our keycard.

They don't have that wording on them anymore.

no thats only partially correct Deb&Bill....

no it doesn't say Disney VAcation Member....but it DOES say DVC....2 lines below the name...or at least the card in front of me does from the end of Jan. 2011.....so it is marked DVC....and I would think that if the room was booked via DVC, then the kttw card would stated it as well....

Ahh, that would explain why they now want to see the blue DVC Member identification card.

We found out the hard way that not all KTTW cards say DVC anything. Some resorts are printing it and only on some KTTW cards. It is/was a software bug with Lilo. At BWV, my card didn't have any DVC info but DW and DD did. At BLT, none of our cards had DVC on them.

During that time they were checking blue cards. The issue may have been fixed by now.

Exactly, it doesn't say "Disney Vacation Club Member" on it any more. That wording is no longer on the card.

We had friends there a couple of weeks ago and there cards said DVC Multi 2A 2C- meaning they had a multiple dining plan and mentioning the number of people in the room. They needed a member card to get into the lounge as that wasn't good enough for some of the cm's working the desk.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I am going to BLT for the first time in August. I am taking my SIL and nephew. I am the member - and obviously have a card - but she does not. When we go together - we do not spend every second together - so I will have to make sure when we plan to go there, we have my card.

Also - not to start a "problem" - but I have a question on the TOTWL. My husband decided to come along(after we booked our trip), but - I was only able to get him a room at BLT for our first night of our stay (I have wait listed the other nights) and booked him a room at Contemporary for the remaining nights as a back up. Are we able to take him to the lounge on the nights when he has his official room in the Contemporary?

If not - no big deal - I could only get him a Magic Kingdom view in the Tower (poor guy!) - so he will still have a great view! :) But I was just curious. He hates breaking "rules" - so I don't want him uncomfortable.

Officially, once he is no longer staying at BLT on a points/cash reservation made through MS, he is not eligible for the lounge.

I hope that the wait list comes through for you!

That is kind of what I thought - but then read some place else that "guests" were allowed. No worries - we will check it out on the first night when I have two studios at BLT - then he moves to his tower room the second night. Again - tough luck for him - Magic Kingdom view...:)

As for the waitlist - I have two going. One to add days to his studio - and then one for a two bedroom - then we can cancel the studios and have plenty of room for all of us. Might be a bad idea - since I have never stayed in anything bigger than a studio and it may cause me to want to add more points! :)

I don't have an answer to your question, but I wanted to share this information. We stayed a night at BLT in February and went for a before-dinner drink at TOWL. It was dead up there. Our server told us that it's always like that and that they are having a hard time keeping employees because of the lack of business.

Therefore, maybe they are bending rules or have changed them (if there is such a rule as members only).

Good observation... wait staff survives on tips - and if there are not enough customers - I wouldn't work there either. But, here's hoping my waitlist comes through - and it won't be an issue!

Unfortunately anytime I have every read anything on the these boards about TOWL it is always said to be "dead". People will go out on the balcony to watch the fireworks but no one really utitilizes the lounge.

We are going for our first stay in June, cannot wait to try it out. I am afraid though it maybe the only time we are allowed to enjoy it as it may close before our next stay there. :(
