Staying at my home resort this summer and wondering if anyone has brought visitors up with them.... I get it from reading here that it is only for people staying on points. I have a childhood friend that lives in Oviedo and visits us every time we go down to Disney. Technically I could add their names to my reservation being as the 2 bedroom sleeps 9 and we are only 6 but that seems a bit out there.....

Please dont yell at me....just asking if it has been done.

:) The BLT folks should jump on here and help you out. I would take them to TOTWL as my guest. You are staying there on points as an owner and I think three extra people would be OK. I know there are rules and I believe things should be enforced. But because it is your home resort and they are visiting you for a brief time I really do not see any harm in it.

Now if I am staying on points at AKV I do not have the right to visit nor permission to bring in any guests. That I accept, and understand.

I would say it is hit or miss. Only those staying at BLT on a DVC reservation, points or cash, is how the current rules read.

We have been a few times and once, we had to show all of our cards, and another time, just one.

Lately, I have read they are also asking to see the blue membership card as well.

If you have room, I would just add the person to the reservation as there would be no question at that point.

we were there in jan 2010 and one person had to show dvc member card and the others had to show room key.

not sure if anything changed since then

when we went they asked to see everyones room key plus one blue membership card. I also had my membership card I could show them but they just needed to see one. It was the room key for each person they wanted to see. They checked the information in the computer at the desk. Then has a CM escort all of us to the elevator were th CM used a key to take us up to the lounge.

We were at BLT last weekend, had to show all room cards and one DVC memebership card to be able to get up to the lounge. The 2nd night we went up they only checked the room cards.

Just add them to the reservation....easiest way to be sure they can join you.

Thank you all for your replys and for not "yelling" at me....lol. I may forego a visit to TOWL with them .... I just realized that I cant add them to my reservation because I am purchasing the dining plan for my family this trip.

We are a family of 4 and invited our friends (also a family of 4) up to the TOTWL when we were staying at our home resort, BLT, last July. I informed the CMs that they were not staying with us in our villa, but could we bring them up as our guests. They answered "of course" and up we went. No issues at all. Have a great trip!

It will all depend on the CM who is in charge of the elevator. You probably were lucky, so don't plan on getting that response every time.

It is often the case that what Disney says is not what Disney does. So, using "I did it once" to guarantee "I can do it again" is shaky at best.

The rule is they can't. In practice, sometimes they can. You won't know for sure until you try it, so I wouldn't bother trying to just bring them. Instead, just put them on your reservation. As long as you are not getting the dining plan, there is no harm in that, and then you will know for sure that you can.

There's always the choice of a segmented reservation. Put your friends on the non-dining plan part of the stay. If they're real good friends, try to get them a studio for the night. I've done that for some friends who live in Tampa Bay area.:goodvibes

Thanks for enlightening me. I thought all DVD members could use that lounge. In fact, I was planning on a stop there on my next visit.

They didn't give my group any trouble when we were there last year--just showed my room key, and the all of us (six total) trooped onto the elevator. Maybe they've tightened things since then, but probably has just as much to do with the CM at the counter.

I remember hearing over a year ago that the lounge seemed to be underutilized, not enough people going up there....wondering how much it's changed since then?

At New Years it depended on who was working, as to how much info you had to show. Some were stricter on how much info you had to show. All of the CM's were very nice about it though.

easy solution... add them to your room when you get to the front desk of the CR after your DDP is paid for...Ive done it and this has worked on a number of occassions.... maybe it will work for you.....nothing to lose to try, no?
