Top of the World Lounge

They have been asking guests to show a blue member card to enter the elevator to go up to the lounge.

Have they opened it up to all DVC members regardless of where they are staying? Or is it membership card plus room key?

Thanks!

I have read reports that since the computer upgrades, some of the KTTW cards do not say DVC for points stays.

I wonder if this is the reason that they are starting to ask to see the member card as well. Maybe they can't tell any longer its a DVC ressie.

Requiring the Blue DVC card doesn't make sense.

From the MS website:

Due to anticipated high demand for this location, access is available only to Disney Vacation Club Members who are staying at Bay Lake Tower using their Membership (Vacation Points or cash), guests staying in the room with that Member, and guests who are staying in a room reserved by a DVC Member with Vacation Points. Access is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

If I reserve a villa for a family member at BLT they can use the lounge without me being there so how can they be refused entrance into TOTWL just because they don't have a blue DVC member card?

Your right, the official policy says those guests who would not have the card should be allowed up. However, DVC has been known to change the rules mid stream and without much notice (ie: the valet parking) so who knows what is going on.

Top Of The World Lounge? Is this different than California Grill?

Yes, the TOWL is at the top of BLT. Those staying at BLT using a DVC membership have access to the lounge at night. It serves a simple menu and drinks.

You can also watch the fireworks from an outside deck.

I'm also renting pts from a DVC member at BLT. I wanted to rent at BLT because of its location to MK and the TOTWL. Do you think I'll still be able to get into the lounge? What have others had to present at the check-in desk? :confused3

KTTW is "Key To The World". That's Disney speak for your room key.

You just try to go up to the TOTWL, but if they ask for your blue membership card at the elevator, you are out of luck since you are renting and not a member.

When we stayed at BLT in Oct. They asked to see our room key and blue membership card. You have to check in at the front desk. They escort you to a special elevator which they use a special key to take you up to the lounge.

I am going in July, with the first part rented points and the 2nd part my points and the reservations are linked, so it should be interesting.

Yes, we're in the gray area of associate member. So we are not entitled to membership cards, but I have the ability to make my own reservation. We'll be disappointed if we are denied.

That's a grey area indeed. we we're going to make our children (young adults0 associate members, but if that is the case that they don't have all the "perks" of membership then i think well pass for now.

You should be able to go up the whole time as you will have a room key with your name on it and a membership card the whole time. Renters who are members won't have a problem with the DVC being left off the keys at all because they have a membership card. On the other hand a renter who is not a member could very well be denied access depending on the printing of their key card.

When you are a member renting from another member the people giving access to the TOTWL wouldn't know anyway.

We are DVC members going in July using points to stay BLT, will we need to make reservations to go up to the Lounge? Is the lounge and the roof considered same? :confused3
