Top Chef Masters - Who will be watching

True, but he kept using that line. In any case, it was funny.

I never knew much about him but he seems to have a really nice personality. Also I must say I've been impressed with the caliber of contestants and how kind they have been to each other. Make no mistake they all want to win but they go about it in a nice way.

The contestants during regular seasons could learn a lot from these guys. I have a lot of respect for all of them.

Rick does seem to be a really great person. Check out his website - I think I've already posted a link but can post it again if you would like. His foundation is really cool. He works hard on finding and using sustainable resources.

My husband & I really want to go to Chicago and eat at one of his restaurants. We can meet up with a few DISers while there too!

I'm not liking this season as well as the usual format, where all the chefs are there and you get to know their personalities from watching week to week and then start picking one to root for. :cheer2: I understand that these chefs are waaaay to busy to give up whole weeks of their lives as they have a established restaurants that cannot surve without their daily presence. It just doesn't feel the same on this Top Chef.

I DO like that these chefs are all respectful of each other. Becasue they all are established and at the top of their field, they have a real respect & professionalism that the insecure, regular contestants from past seasons could learn from.

Ludo was annoying with his French arrogance. It actually was his undoing. Every time he thought was better than he was, he proved himself wrong. :p He should have stuck to making French crepes. We have crepe food booths at street fairs all the time.

Did anyone notice that Rick helped two of the other chefs and still he won? :cool1: He told Ludo which cheese to use for a quesadilla and helped Cindy figure out the pressure cooker. Good for Rick being such a great guy. :thumbsup2

Holiday week. Most shows didn't air new episodes the latter half of the week, and even some Sunday night shows aren't returning with new eps until the 12th.

Very different, though. The Masters are competing for charity, and the producers are even donating money to the charities of the eliminated Chefs. The regular contestants are competing for money (and other prizes) for themselves, with seemingly no compensation for anyone except the winner.

I'm really liking this 'Masters' show. The food seems better, the judges are cool - love Gael Green!!! There have been three comments about how quirky Gail is but she's been nothing but positive even in her negative comments. :) It's clear they are all having fun. I also love the charity twist; this is a perfect year for that. I love seeing the chefs, I've even eaten at two of their restaurants which makes it more interesting to me. I've eaten at Rick Bayless' Frontera Grill in Chicago and Mustard's in the Napa Valley. I was very impressed with Mustard's, it was about 15 years ago and the food was all new to me. I remember having a chili and this goat's cheese dish that were amazing. Having both the owner/chefs in the same challenge was fun! I think I'm rooting for Hubert Keller who won the first challenge so far. He seemed at ease and his food was judged so tasty! I think their challenge of cooking in a dorm room was the toughest too.

We were sad to see that Besh didn't make it this week. He just had a rough run.

I was sad to see John Besh not make it. He doesn't seem to do all that well under pressure. He will always be the Top Chef to me!:)

What's with all the female chefs who have such dry personalities? And, they win!!! What's the finale going to be like if it becomes a field of boring women? How could Bravo do this to us? I hope they prep these chefs in advance to get them to show some type of personality other than dud.

Me too. It was just not a good day for him.

Was he the one from New Orleans. I was cheering for him

I hate he had a bad day. At least he seemed to enjoy what he did on the final challenge.

Yes, he was from New Orleans. He has such a passion for rebuilding the city. When he was talking about his restaurants I liked the fact that he never said "I" or "my" it was "we" and "our".

I agree, he will always be a Top Chef to me too!

I wish Tom was going to compete in Top Chef Masters

That would be very cool. I would love to go to one of his restaurants. Have you heard of the restaurant he has that is only open something like twice a month?

Anyone else still watching??? As much as I liked Art Smith I don't think he has the cooking chops of the other finalists. I hope Anita Lo gets her act together she doesn't seem herself. Also the coming attractions look great. It looks like they have past Top Chef contestants be Sous Chefs for the finalist. Dlae and Michael Chiarillo look like they almost come to blows. popcorn::

I am really enjoying this show! Its a nice change to see people be competitive but still be respectful and helpful to each other.

I am ok with Art going home. I think he is funny, but he just has not been as strong for either of the champions rounds shows.

It should be interesting to see what happens this week....

I loved the last couple of weeks. Especially the challenge where they made up ingredients boxes for each other. When they could have sabotaged each other, they wanted each other to be able to make their best and shine.

This is what I talked about in a post a couple weeks ago. These chefs have self confidence in their own skills and understand this is a competition about their personal best. :thumbsup2 You see this at the Olympics too. They aren't trying to trip each other coming out of the gate. They know it's let each person do their personal best and truly the best person will and should win.

And I do think these chefs are in this to win. It doesn't matter that it's for a charity. I volunteer for an organization and I put just as much heart & soul into it. If I had a chance to win $100,00 for my favorite charity, heck, I'd go all out to do it. :yay:

Plus these chefs weren't trying to hide in obscurity before. They are known for their cooking brilliance. Creating a public reputation is important to them. Adding Top Chef Master to their resume would be a nice feather in their cap.

I was away last week with no HBO and no Bravo. Last week's episode is still in my DVR. I haven't gotten up to Wednesday's shows yet.

I do like that it isn't cut throat among the chefs. I hope that TC Las Vegas is different because of that, but alas, it was probably taped while Masters was going on, so maybe the next season can be different.

I am still watching.:thumbsup2

The last episode with Zooey the vegan, gluten free, no dairy, etc..show was a little odd.

Cool that they had to cook that way however using dried pasta was a bit of a super cheat in my book.

I really like Bayless and Hubert Keller.
