What are your top 5 "must haves" when packing your fanny/back pack or pockets for the WDW parks? Please leave out obvious things like "money" or "park tickets" and "photo equipment/extra film". Make believe you're giving this list to a first timer-be creative!

Here are mine!

1) Ponchos!:umbrella:
2) Sun Screen!:sunny:
3) Wet Wipes!
4) Bottle of water w/carry strap
5) Sun glasses!:cool2:

Yes I know, mine are not so creative, but I don't have kids! I'm just curious about what everone else brings. :

1.) Shout Wipes
2.) Band-Aids
3.)Water Bottle Strap
4.) Sunglasses Strap
5.) Mini-Medicine Cabinet (tylenol, tums & zantac plus our perscription meds)

I also carry either anti-bacterial wipes or purell, sunscreen etc... but didn't want to double up.

I must have the following in my backpack at all times:

1) Candy
2) Water Bottle
3) Sunscreen
4) Cell Phone or Walkie Talkies
5) Lotion

adding to the list (I take all the stuff mentioned above):

PLUS:
1. GUM (they don't sell it on property)
2. Extra AA batteries for the toys that spin and light up.
3. LIME GREEN RIBBON!
4. Safety pins (something always seems to break that I can fix with these.)
5. Small laminated strips with each day's itinerary and PS confirmation numbers. (They fit in my pocket and keeps me from having to carry around a book or a large piece of paper.)

only 2 that come to mind!

A mini screwdriver - I brought the extra aa batteries for the light up fans, etc. but never did get them changed without a screwdriver handy! You can get tiny screw drivers that are only a couple of inches long (we have one at home)

The other great idea was plastic baggies (large and small) - I was surprised at how useful they were - Not only for keeping things dry, but for keeping things organized.

princess:

1) hand sanitizer
2) benadryl anti-itch cream (for bug bites:( )
3) granola bar
4) nail file
5) lens cloth-for my glasses

1. 1.Sunscreen
2. Wash cloth in a zip lock
3. Water Bottle
4. Lysol Strips
5. Pen

I cant think of 5, but one MOST important in my book is

IBUPROFEN/HEADACHE MEDICINE!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is nothing worse than walking around Disney with a sinus headache and searching for a store to buy some. Take it with you, so you can get rid of it FAST! :)

I only have 3 things that I have to take with me:

1: GUM!!!!
2: chapstick
3: extra batteries for the camera

I do without everything else unless we bring the backpack in. Oh I will add a new one that I will have to remember for December

4: extra pin backs, I aways seem to lose one somehow.

FloridaCat......can you tell me about these "Lysol strips"? What exactly are they? I will hopefully (if the airline allows it) be bringing Lysol on my upcoming trip.

When we were there in 2001.........6 out of 8 of us ended up with an awful vomiting virus.

I am planning on taking precautions this December. I certainly don't want to go through that again!

Thanks!

Recently I've heard a lot of people say you NEED bug spray.

How about those "blister pads" you can use when your feet start to hurt?

Since I carry my water on a strap I don't have to worry about it in my fanny pack. In my fanny pack is....
1. peanut butter crackers
2. chapstick
3. sunscreen stick
4. passes/money
5. ibu!!!!

Don't forget there are 5 things you shouldn't bring:
1.A sense of financial responsibility
2.Inhibitions
3.Sadness
4.Anger
5.A sense of financial responsibility
:jester:

Top 5 things to leave at home

1. Every problem or concern at home

2. Your intolerance for other people

3. Your bank statement

4. The rat race of work

5. and finally your adulthood.....You will be at the happiest place on earth.

Have fun and if you need help on how to act at WDW, look to the children around you. They can be the best teachers on how to have fun.

the 5 things i must have in my bag for a day at the parks:

1.) camera and film
2.) water bottle
3.) small bag with meds (tylenol, immodium, precut moleskin)
4.) visor (i prefer a visor over sunglasses at WDW)
5.) poncho

that is pretty much all i carry anymore - maybe some snacks, but not much.
We have been trying to scale down our load in that bag over the last few trips. We (me) also decided that next trip we will be investing in fanny packs for each one of us. I am getting sick of being the "bag lady" for the family. Now that DS is 9 he can schlep his own stuff. (him being older also means i don't have to carry all those "baby supplies" that i did when he was 5 and under.)

We took 40 pounds of gear on Day 1 but by Day 8, we survived with just:

Misting fans (one for each of us!) - absolutely essential when waiting for a bus or when it's time to kick it up to commando march!

Fanny pack - to carry sunscreen, passes and chapstick w/sunblock. The kids each had one w/a water bottle holder attached. It looks dorky but it keeps their hands free for holding when moving thru the crowds.

Laminated unofficial guide touring plans - I edited them before we left and then wrapped them in clear contact paper to keep them dry. They were great! We never needed a park map.

Sunglasses and hats - the sun is bright and hot!

Stroller - even though our kids never use it at home, we decided to bring it. We used it every day and were glad we brought it.

Am I the only person that does this?

Although on days when I'm bringing a camera, I wear a fanny pack, usually I just wear pants with a pocket and put my money and tickets in a baggie in my pocket. Sometimes I also put a few wipes in a baggie. (not the same baggie of course)

obviously, I'm not traveling with small children. Maybe all the years of lugging diapers around has made me a rebel.

Bimmy - you are not alone - after anouncing on our last trip that i would no longer be "bag lady" for any future trip, my DH lightened my load by using the tons-o-pockets in his cargo shorts. He is pretty sure that will be his method for future trips as he just can't see himself wearing a fanny pack.
