Top 5 Movies

Interestingly enough, I am not a big Wachowski's fan at all (never cared for The Matirx), but Speed Racer, they got right! It was so beautiful too that it ws the reason I upgraded to Bluray at the time, knowing I would want that one to look as good as possible.
Even if one is not a fan of The Matrix, it revolutionized a new way to view “the plausible impossible”. For like five years after the Matrix movies were shamelessly copying it. Even Charlie’s Angels and James Bond became superhuman. That all got scaled back thank goodness, but the special effects are used everywhere still today. Even the end of Partysaurus Rex uses the exact same effect that is used in Trinity’s first fight scene.

Sorry for the offshoot. Now back to the top 5’s. 😬

1 Lawrence of Arabia
2 Godfather
3 Casablanca
4 Godfather Part II
5 And to put a comedy in here, I'll go with Caddyshack.

On any particular day I could switch around 1, 2 & 3. Today that's how I'd rank them. :D

I'm glad to see a vote for The Quiet Man. I love that movie and it would make my list if we could choose more than 5. So beautifully shot and the characters are wonderful. That's John Ford at his peak, IMHO. An underrated movie.
There is a documentary out there, I forget which platform, about Doug Kenny. If you are from that generation, or not, it is really good and explains a lot about national lampoon and SNL. It is really good.

Rainman
Ferris Bueller
Dazed and Confused (because every character was a near identical friend of mine in high school.)
Full Metal Jacket
and gotta have Jaws in the list.
Let’s see. I’ll review three of your movies…
Alright

The other day a friend of mine called and wanted to go to Kmart. I didn't want to go but I sat in my car thinking, he'll keep calling, keep calling, I'll go... I'll go... I'll go... and went to start the car and it wouldn't start. So I called my friend back, "yeah, Kmart sucks" and I didn't go and watched Judge Wapner instead.

You should have suggesting hitting Sears as well. :)

In no order; I love them all:

The Miracle Worker
The Women
Footlight Parade
Singin' in the Rain
An American in Paris
Love this list. There was a remake of the Women (idk which version you like, but both are good).
I love anything Gene Kelly/Stanley Donen.

In order….
Gone With the Wind (my most favorite movie)
The Godfather I& II
Harry Potter (I’m lumping them altogether)
Jurassic Park (the original)
The Greatest Showman

I love the original 1939 version of The Women. I especially adore Rosalind Russell as Sylvia Fowler.

Favorite movies that hold up, even in 2022...

Titanic
Clue
The Sixth Sense
The Lion King (1994)
Toy Story 3

In that order...

A Few Good Men and Avengers: Infinity War come close, and might knock off TS3, depending on my mood...

Star Wars (1977)
A Tale of Two Cities (1935 version with Ronald Colman)
Amadeus
Back to the Future
The Wizard of Oz

I love the original 1939 version of The Women. I especially adore Rosalind Russell as Sylvia Fowler.
Well then that makes the second time I recommend His Girl Friday on this thread. Although I’m sure you’ve seen it. Russell and Grant. What a team!
They remade that too. I think it was called Network News. Does not compare though.

Showed my teen kids Clue. So many great one liners. I have to show them A Few Good Men. The Brat Pack was given a gift of Reiner and Sorkin. No actor is walking away from that combo without looking like they deserve an award.

Monty Python & the Holy Grail
The Right Stuff
Apollo 13
Beauty & the Beast (animated)
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

I'm rather adult...
  1. Hannibal
  2. Silence of the Lambs
  3. The Greatest Showman
  4. Requiem for a Dream
  5. Chocolat
These movies actually come packaged together in the Cannibals, Carnies, Crackheads, and Chocolate DVD set. Available at the Official Florida Welcome Center.
