Top 10 Restaurants You've Never Tried

You read a lot over the years about particular places, entrees, desserts, snacks (School Bread, I'm looking at you). Time goes by. You stick to your favorites. You branch out every now and then, but still, there are places you just haven't...

You get the idea. Based on what you've read, heard, seen (food porn), what is YOUR list of the Top 10 Disney Restaurants you just haven't got around to ADRing. Or counter-servicing. Or snacking.

My list is as follows:

1. Victoria and Albert's
As a kid, it seemed beyond the realm of possibility. With a little scrimping and saving, it's now a reality. Despite this, I still feel that a dinner there should be justified with a major life event. Wedding, anniversary, job promotion. Major good news. In fact, I've never set foot in the Grand Floridian lo these many years for the same reason. When I do it, I want to do it no-holds barred.

2. Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian
Second verse same as the first.

3. O'hana
I'm fairly certain I won't like it. But I read it about it constantly. I have to do it just once. At least for a pineapple drink.

4. Tonga Toast
Can you believe this? I've never been to Kona Cafe for breakfast. Must remedy.

5. Citrico's
Fifth verse same as the first?

6. Narcoossee's
Okay, now this is getting silly.

7. Teppan Edo
It feels odd that I've never dined here. Almost un-Epcotian of me.

8. Yachtsman Steakhouse
Great word of mouth and Webmaster Pete highly recommends it.

9. Cape May Cafe
Another place I've heard about over the years. I have to go at least once.

10. Garden Grill
Living with the Land is one of my top 3 favorite WDW rides. And this musty old Epcot restaurant is right above it. I mean, this is a no brainer.

Honorable Mentions:
Whispering Canyon Cafe (Because the dining report would be worth it)
Beaches and Cream (Because I've got to order the Kitchen Sink at least once)

1. V & A: would love an adventurous food experience, but $$$$WOW, and plus, I just don't think we're fancy enough!
2. Bistro: see above, just knock off one $
3. Sci-Fi: somehow this is always on our initial ADR list but ends up getting canceled for something else
4. Liberty Tree lunch
5. Columbia Harbor House: oh, if only you were open on EMH nights...
6. San Angel Inn: see #2
7. 'Ohana: somehow we've done Kona *and* Spirit of Aloha but never 'Ohana
8. Fulton's: I'm allergic to seafood, but my DH loves it, so I always book it and then he gets mad at me..."if we're going to spend that much money, I want it to be at someplace where we both can enjoy it!"

Not sure if I can do 10 but will try....here goes.

1. Jiko - I see that filet with the mac and cheese and drool everytime!
2. Liberty Tree Tavern - I love the "comfort" food family style meal. It seems this would fit right up my alley...yet CP wins everytime for dining in MK.
3. Tony's - LOVE pasta, can't get enough and then Lady and the Tramp...come on why haven't I eaten here yet? (oh yeah...that CP thing again)
4. Coral Reef - I think this would be so cool and the pics of the strip steak looks so good.
5. Les Chef's de France - I cannot tell you how many times I have yearned for that "chocolate puff" dessert...lol But Epcot has so many options..just not got there yet.
6. Turf Club at SSR - Not sure why I want to eat here. Guess I really want an excuse to check out the resort. I am a huge racing fan and think that would be so cool.
7. Garden Grill - Again Epcot has to many options, but I think it would be cool to dine here...the food and the spining restaurant.
8. Tusker House (breakfast) - Donald is my all time fav and I can't believe I haven't gotten there yet. Had an adr last visit but missed it, couldn't wake up to exhausted. LOL
9. Pizzafari - Not sure why, but that italian sandwich always looks so good!
10. 50's Primetime Diner - Sci Fi won out last time...wasn't that impressed. Cool theme, but the food was just basic. So next time I am sure this will get done.

There you go...I did 10, took a bit of thinking but I did it.

Having never visited any buffets or character meals in the World, there's a whole sector of Disney dining with which I'm unfamiliar. That being said, I'm not particularly interested in those events so they're not likely to rate very high on my list, which is as follows.

1. Victoria and Albert's
Quite frankly, I just don't think I'm ready for it yet. I'm still pretty new to visiting the World and I think there are a lot of other places and signature restaurants I want to try before I go to the alleged unrivaled great. Either everything else will disappoint, or the meal itself will after all the hype.

2. The Flying Fish Café
I'll be trying this restaurant for the first time in November. It is currently my most anticipated completely-new-to-me restaurant and dinner.

3. Todd English's bluezoo
I rarely hear about this restaurant from others on this board, but when I do, it's always a rave. I'll also be trying this one for the first time in November and while the menu isn't quite as interesting to me as the Flying Fish, I'm still very excited about it.

4. The Grand Floridian Café (Breakfast)
I've been to the café for lunch, but never breakfast. This is another that I'll be trying for the first time in November and everything on the menu looks amazing. Just reading about lobster Benedict and maple-vanilla French toast makes my mouth water.

5. The Cabana Bar and Beach Club
I suspect that this casual bar at the Dolphin might be a true hidden gem for drinks and a light meal. The menu has a variety of seafood appetizers, salads, sandwiches and flatbreads and it all sounds delicious.

6. La Cantina de San Angel
Obviously, nobody has tried this one yet, but the announcements made about the menu we can expect have piqued my interest. Much more, in fact, than Via Napoli. I've been to Naples in Disneyland's Downtown Disney and I don't expect much from Epcot's new Italian venture, but the Cantina sounds like a somewhat ambitious project and I'm excited to see how it fares.

7. Wolfgang Puck's
This one is going higher on the list than it probably should simply because I cannot decide whether I'm more interested in the café downstairs or the dining room upstairs. Both menus have interesting and creative dishes that I think I could love. Kudos, Chef Puck.

8. Citricos
The reason this one isn't higher on my list is that, despite all of the wonderful reviews I've read, I just find the menu a little overpriced and underwhelming. That being said, some of what they offer does look amazing and I'm sure I'll get around to trying it sooner or later.

9. Olivia's (Lunch or Dinner)
I've been to Olivia's for breakfast and was less than impressed, but their seafood-laden lunch and dinner menus definitely intrigue me. I could definitely see hopping over there for lunch on a Downtown Disney day and enjoying a bowl of conch chowder and a Key West salmon salad.

10. Shutters
Despite the recent panning on the blog and the outpouring of bad reviews here on the board, I've long thought that I could enjoy this restaurant. Bad service is never the norm in a Disney restaurant so I can't always trust what people say about that. As for the food, well, it's all down to personal taste and what you order, isn't it? The menu looks simple enough but employs some interesting flavors.

Jul, those Main Street Bakery cinnamon rolls are heaven. The one I had last January was drizzled with vanilla and maple icing. I took it to go and had it with a glass of milk back in our room at the end of the night. It was an ideal dessert.

I'm loving these lists! Keep 'em comin'. I always forget about the 50s Prime Time. I think I have to make that another honorable mention.

Hmm.. Decisions, decisions..

1. CRT - We're hoping to try this with our little princesses next year! They probably won't remember it, but seriously the pictures will be a treasure for our family.

2. Grand Floridian Cafe - The breakfast menu sounds so good! And a possible candidate for next years Thanksgiving dinner.

3. Artist Point - Hoping to try this with my husband for a nice dinner for two sometime.

4. Hoop Dee Doo - Once the little ones get a bit older, this should be a lot of fun.

5. Yachtsman Steakhouse - Gotta try this at least once for our son. My son keeps talking about wanting to try the Porterhouse. Hopefully,the vegetarian option is a good one for me.

6. Tokyo Dining - Again another restaurant to try once the little girls get a tad older.

7. Beaches and Cream - Sounds yummy! Just need to find the time for this one.

8. Raglan Road - Sounds like a lot of fun and the menu sounds good.

9. Tusker House - On our list for next year!

10. Jiko - Hoping my husband and I can find the time one trip to try it out.

I've heard great things about this restaurant but have never gotten a chance to eat here. Was going to try for our November trip but we just couldn't fit it in

2. Tonga Toast
I've always wanted to try this, never had a chance to eat at Kona Cafe... This is my Birthday Breakfast this year (even though it's 3 days after my actual birthday)

3. Dole Whip
Every trip I say I'm going to get one, every trip I forget to get one!

4. Earl of Sandwich
When ever I'm in DTD I'm never hungry enough for a meal here

5. Raglan Road
See #4

6. Beaches and Cream
Again just never got to it - May go on my Birthday (since it's out Epcot Day) and get something

7. Epcot Wine and Food Festival
I think this is so neat and very happy this year's festival goes into the beginning of our trip!

8. Main Street Bakery
The one time I could have gotten a breakfast here my travel-mate wanted to go straight to Tom Sawyer Island (do not pass go, do not collect $200) to get a paint brush. Once we were done it was too busy and we were too hungry to wait - On the plus... got a Cupcake for breakfast that day!

9. Yak & Yeti
Eating here in November - Since I've been to Tuskar House this is the only other sit down (I don't consider Rainforest Cafe since it's a chain and I've also been to one before) I've not been to yet in AK

10. Biergarten
Also heard good things just never had the chance

There's not too many I haven't tried but these three still elude me:

Victoria and Albert - The problem is finding someone to go with who can appreciate the whole dining experience, at least for that kind of money.

The Wave - I've hear really good things about it but have yet to make it there.

Kouzzina - We love Greek food and even though reviews have been mixed I think we would like it!

Frankly, since I discovered Todd English's Blue Zoo, I have a hard time saving my pennies to go anywhere else! It's so very good!

Oops forgot the one at Epcot, name (?) the new tequila bar, I've seen reviews/pictures of their appetizers/tapas and they really look tasty!

There are many, many restaurants that we've not tried and some of them we never would (even if we had the money--e.g. Victoria & Alberts). Here is the short list of those we do want to try one of these days:

Flying Fish
Yachtstamn Steakhouse
and possibly Jiko

Word to the wise about Tonga Toast:

You don't need an ADR for Kona Cafe to get it. You can go to the quick service location Captain Cook's and get it. Same with Dole Whip. You can get that there, too.


Ok, what's on my list? In no particular order:

1. Shula's
I'm actually going there in a couple weeks. Mostly because they have an incredible meal deal only good thru 7/15/10.

2. Il Mulino
That would cover the last of the Swan/Dolphin restaurants I want to try. I already enjoy Todd English's bluezoo™.

3. Kouzzina
4. The Wave
5. Yak and Yeti
These are three of the newest restaurants opened that I haven't tried. I already knocked Sanaa off my "new to me" restaurants in December and loved my meal there.

6. Tutto Italia
I'm missing my window of opportunity in a couple weeks, because the only way I'd eat there would be with DDP credits. And I am already using my credits (first time using DDP) elsewhere.

7. Hacienda, formerly the Cantina de San Angel.
Just because it's new.

8. Via Napoli :
Same as above.

I think I've covered every place I haven't tried but want to try.
