Tooth fairy ??

The tooth fairy always brought my DD $1. She's 8 now and hasn't lost any teeth in awhile.

Disney dollars?

The tooth fairy has visited our house twice (in about two weeks' time). The first time, I wanted it to be really special, so the tooth fairy left a pretty white semi-sheer drawstring bag with a pretty white satin ribbon (from cake decorating/wedding aisle at WalMart) full of shiny dimes (I think it was $10.00 worth for that first tooth, but dd, age 5 has no real concept of the value of coins, and to her, it was just a bunch of shiny coins, so the amount wasn't that critical.) There was a certificate from the tooth fairy congratulating her on losing her first tooth, too, and reminding her to brush regularly.

For the tooth fairy's second visit, she left a pretty lavender card (um, she had a little help making that one....used some of Mommy's scrapbooking supplies for the glittery flourishes) another little white sack of shiny coins (just what I had that looked shiny, no specific amount) and 5 Disney dollars.

My dd was very excited, and put all of her money from both times in her Mickey bank.

She loved the Disney dollars and the coins. I had no idea what the going rate was either, so I just improvised!

Another idea I plan to use later is to have the tooth fairy leave some foreign coins. I really don't like the idea of having the focus be on the amount of cash that the tooth fairy brings. And it's so practical to have her leave Disney dollars! Where I live they are hard to get, so I just buy some whenever I'm in a Disney Store (once or twice a year, poor us!).

The tooth fairy leaves $5 for the first tooth and $1 for all others. BUT if you have a cavity, you have to leave money for the tooth fairy because it weighs more and she cant use it. Dont have any cavities, so there hasnt been any money left.

I didn't have to leave $10, that just happened to be the total amount of dimes to fill the bag. (I wanted it to look full, and dimes are the smallest silver coin!) Silly me. I knew it would all go into her Mickey bank for our trip to WDW, so I didn't mind filling the little bag full of shiny dimes.

From here on out, the tooth fairy will just leave Disney dollars.
