That's good to know about not going to the ER, I was thinking of taking him during the night on Thursday if it got worse. I never even thought about them not touching teeth!
You may want to find out what services your local ER offers. We have a dentist on call for dental emergencies (tooth knocked out, etc.) and a separate area where dental emergencies are seen (a dentist's office-type set up). Dental patients aren't seen in ER exam rooms nor are they seen by the ER doc, so they wait in a separate "line" from the medical and surgical patients. They usually have a very short wait time. You should see the patients waiting to be seen complain when the dental patients are taken back right away. We tell them if they'd like a dentist to treat their problem, we'd be glad to send them back to dental clinic too.
